Have You Gone Completely Mental? [closed]

Marlow was shaking.

She was never nervous around Seamus Finnigan. Not once. Not ever. He had always been a wonderful comfort to her, a soothing presence or a raucous bit of laughter when she most needed it. But now, her nerves were overwhelming. Her hands were tense, her joints sore almost as if she had been the one doing the hitting. But no, it was just Seamus and Zacharias and some sort of whatever the hell that was between them back at the beer garden. A fist fight wasn't new to Seamus, he was an Irish farm boy after all, she'd heard quite a few stories over the years and seen a few back ends of bar fights since they were of legal age. But it was never like this.

She had known that the reaction to her relationship with Zacharias wasn't going to be entirely positive, she had prepared herself for that. What she didn't expect was this sort of outlandish outbreak. Seamus and Dean were her best friends, her brothers and while they might have had an issue at first, she had just assumed that they'd get over it when they saw how happy Zacharias made her.

She knew there must be something else. There was a terrible look behind his eyes when he pulled away his sunglasses, the kind of look that had plagued Marlow plenty of mornings in the past few months. She had been scared to see it, scared to see what it looked like on another person.

But she was also furious.

She was furious with Zacharias, and fair or unfair, more upset with Seamus- she'd known him since they were children and she just couldn't quite fathom what was happening and perhaps whatever it was wasn't her business and if he said that, maybe she'd understand, but boundaries had to be made. Zacharias wasn't going anywhere, at least Marlow hoped not.

Which was why she was knocking on the door to Seamus' flat, her heart nearly beating out of her chest as she waited for him to open the door. For the first time in their entire friendship, she found herself wondering if he'd answer it at all.
