Well, we're here.

Overall, the move went well - all our stuff was here when we arrived, Mike got us from teh airport and showed us his place before dropping us off... too eays.

What wasn't easy was actaully getting on the plane. The airport was a madhouse on the 1st with huge lines to get checked in. Hell, I didn't even have an assigned seat until I got to the gate. So, after we stand in line for 30 min., we get through and sent to the obscenely long security lineup. After waiting for 10 min. there, we get our "final call". Only then were we allowed to get to go to the front of the line. That's when the fun began.

"Please take your cat out of the bag."

You heard that right - take our cat out of the bag, walk through the metal detector with him while the bag goes through the x-ray machine. We were more then a little flabergasted. But we complied - our plane was leaving any minute....

Luckily, Jake the Cat was scared stiff and didn't kick up a fuss as he is wont to do when held. Lucky us.

After that little adventure, we got to the gate to find out that I'd be in business class. Woohoo! I also got to keep Jake around as I had WAY more legroom then Amrit got in regular seating. (Hey, I offered her the seat!)

Interestingly enough, there was a cat on the floor right behind the Jakester. It didn't seem to like him as it whined most of the flight.

So - here we are in TO. Our apt. doesn't seem to match the "builders measurements", but it's still a great building. The people are friendly - heck, even teh security guards manning teh door 24/7 treat us nice. People we've met have been super-cool, too. Met a guy in the gym and he's offered to ask around for a job for me and offered Amrit advice on wedding supplies (he's Indian as well). The video store clerk we met on day 1 is also from Winnipeg - she sent us a card welcoming us to TO and included directions to movie theatres and good places to eat.

We've also noticed a lot more walkers around TO. In Winnipeg you pretty much have to drive to get around the city easily. Not so out here. The public transit is definitely a viable transportation option. Hell - we've even got an Ikea shuttle bus on the weekends that stops right outside our door. No, I'm not kidding - a bus dedicated to taking people to Ikea.

We've done some exploring - Gerrard St. (Little India) ChinaTown (and East ChinaTown), Eaton Centre and a drive down Yonge St.

Overall, things are going well here. Amrit seems to be ok with her job. She did her first day today and it seems to have gone well. They just don't have any of her paperwork in order. Seems they are administratively-challenged at Mt. Sinai. It doesn't surprise us too much, though. They've been disorganized from the start.

We're also getting houseguests in the beginning of March - Amrit's brother and Jordy are coming out. It'll be interesting to see what they think. We're also gonna have to find stuff to do while they are here. Shouldn't be hard...

That's all for now. I'll be back later with more thrilling tales from the Big Smoke.
