Oh. You're still here.

Rather then bore you with baby details (maybe next post) I'm gonna dive into something completely different.

Did any of you ever move while still in school? Was it tough to make new friends at the new school because you were "the new kid"? I suspect there was some awkwardness involved - it's never easy to move and have to make new friends. Anyways, keep those old feelings handy so you can relate to my next paragraph.

I ask this because I never did change schools. I find myself in a bit of an awkward spot now, though. I've returned to university at the ripe old age of ... well, I'm twice as old as a few of my classmates and have an easy decade on 99% of them.

That's right - I'm "the old guy" in the room. The one who pays attention and studies hard and doesn't go get drunk on the weekends.

Imagine how easy it is for me to relate to my classmates. Or them to me for that matter. We're from completely different worlds. I have a wife and child and a house. They are hoping to get laid and drunk in the same weekend and hope for a C+.

This isn't to say I'm on bad terms with them, it's just that there is a large gulf that can't be crossed. It makes it tough to have any sort of social experience in my university time. I'm not expecting to go to the parties and whatnot - but university is, right now, a very solitary existence for me.

Anyways, that's the spot I'm in right now.
