doctor who reviews

Why does "Tom Sawyer" by Rush always remind me of Tom Baker? I blame Freaks & Geeks. In a good way. There's an episode where Bill almost dies from his peanut allergy, and then when he gets better, his mom buys him a Doctor Who costume. At the end you see him heading off to a sci-fi con, wearing a trenchcoat, fedora, and a great long burgundy scarf. Right on.

On Tuesday night, Toren had Movie Night at his house, but I was the only person who showed up. So we watched some Tom Baker Dr. Who. Pyramids of Mars. It was great - especially the last episode where the Doctor's all mind controlled, and then they escape and go to Mars and they have to figure out all those logic puzzles because "[the guy who designed the puzzles] was an Osiran, with all their guile and ingenuity. They had dome-shaped heads and cerebrums like spiral staircases." Oh, and the guy who invented the space telescope, the mad organ-playing fez-wearing Egyptian, and the crazy sarcophagus-portal to Sutekh the Destroyer that looked like a disco, were all awesome, too. I think I still like Stones of Blood and Horror of Fang Rock better.

Last night I finished making up my new character for D&D. Her name's Chun (Chinese for spring, I like the way it sounds). As I said before, she's got 5 levels in Rogue, and then 3 in Monk. Her weapon is a +2 quarterstaff, and she's also got a Flame Dagger (does an extra 1d6 fire damage). Still trying to decide on backgroundy stuff. I know for sure that she came from an okay family, but she rebelled and became a thief when she turned 16 or so. So she's got 1337 thief skills. But then sometime later on, she became a monk. There's no alignments in this game, so I can either make her a monk who's still a thief, or a monk who has thief skills, but has renounced her wicked past. That's what I can't decide.
