Nobody knew

I'm back!!! Didya miss me? Did you even notice I was gone? [cricket chirps] Oh. Uhm. Well I'm telling you about my trip anyway! On January 2nd, Nathan's parents left for a ski vacation at some place called Trenteno in Italy but he didn't want to go so he stayed at the house by himself. Bless his heart but the poor guy couldn't cook toast to keep from starving so after three days he was sick of TV dinners and begging me to come to visit him. He said he'd pay for everything so long as I would cook for him [grin] so, naturally, I packed up my kitty, said goodbye to my housie and drove to his house in Nevada! It turns out that Nevada is a big place and to my profound disappointment he doesn't really live very close to the casinos. But still, a 25-minute drive is better than a four hour one, so I got to go and waste my money more than usual. His house is amazing! It's three stories and there's an elevator... I mean, goodness sake. You walk in the front door and there's like this huge staircase leading up to the second story then there's two more, one on each side, leading up to the third. It's not the first time I'd been there, but every time it's like "wow" you know? It was super fun sliding down those stairs on a sled let me tell you! Heh, I nearly died - it was great! Anywho, I think I now have a better perspective on married life. It's not like we got sick of each other during the month we were together or something (At least, I hope he didn't get sick of me! [wink]) but you really get to know all the little weirdness about someone when you live with them. It's amazing to me how much of a faced we all maintain, all of the time. Living with someone is too tiring to keep it up so you get to see inside to the non-perfect person. For instance, every single morning Nate gets up, drinks a glass of milk and eats a bowl of serial while watching one of those awful morning news shows, goes out front and gets the newspaper, reads the paper a bit, does exercises in the back yard, wanders around the house, makes his bed, THEN showers and gets dressed. By this time it's like 10. He goes out front in boxers!!! He also cleans his teeth after every single meal. I do mine when I wake up and am far too lazy to manage more than that... Anyway, his parents got back Friday but he insisted that I meet them and stay for at least one more day. I didn't mind but when I met his parents the immediately assumed I was his girlfriend and had been sleeping with him the whole time they were gone! Ack! His mom was kinda weird to me but his dad was really nice so that was cool. We all went out to dinner last night because his parents had a major hankering for Chinese food since they couldn't get any on their trip so we went to this place called Jasmine in the Belagio (wee!) we sat at a table that overlooked the lake and I had crab claws with so much butter I'm sure I'll have a heart attack within a few days. I said my goodbyes at about 7 this morning because I wanted to get going before it got too hot and I got back to my place at about 11. Sigh. Now I have to get used to not having anyone to keep me company. At least I have my journal back! I only got to check it like twice the whole time I was away. I'm sure nobody noticed, though.
