what's wrong with this picture?

Not sleeping well is a relatively new thing for me. I never used to have trouble falling or staying asleep.

But for the past few months...I don't know. It takes me a while to fall asleep, unless I'm incredibly exhausted, and if something wakes me up in the middle of the night, which apparently is likely, I lie there for an hour just trying to get back to sleep. This leads to me being tired all the time.

Tonight, there were fire engines. Is it really necessary to blast your sirens all the way to the fire at 4:12am? And there must have been about five vehicles each a few minutes apart that just had to use their sirens. It doesn't help that I can see the flashing red and blue lights from our computer room window, which means they were blasting their sirens until they got to a location close by. Don't get me wrong, if it were my fire, I'd want them here sooner than possible, but this is still West Allis. No one is out at 4:12am.

I'm not the kind of person who usually wakes up to sirens. You're reading the journal of the girl that once had to be shaken awake by her roommate because the fire alarm (which was right outside our dorm) was going off in the middle of the night and we had to go outside. Most of the time, I don't hear thunder, no matter how violent it was. But even if I did, I went right back to sleep as if nothing happened. It used to be very difficult to disturb my sleep.

One of these days, I'm bound to have one of my dreams that explains to me what my deep dark problem is, presents a solution, and then I'll sleep well again... that's just what I do. But until then, this really sucks.
