Everyone in my college generation wants to go to Paris and write a novel.

I don't want to grow sour about it, but the other day I casually mentioned to my roommate, that were I not planning to serve a mission I would follow up on my interest in this certaing boy...to which she replied, "I think everyone likes him."

- What is that?

She might as well have said, "You don't stand a chance!" "Get in line." "Maybe you should be more realistic." "Your taste is just like everyone elses which is a reflection on how un-special you are."

take your pick. I was only mentioning it casually anyway, in the same way I'd talk about the weather - there was no emotional attachment to what I was saying, except for my capacity to be offended by how it was recieved.

I feel like I'm walking around in pastland. Instead of finding comfort in familiarity, I feel smothered.
