1. Devotchka is totally rocking everything about my music world right about now.

2. I started a job at the Student Book Store.  Every day since, I've contemplated quitting.  I have nearly not returned from break several times, and every morning that I wake up I contemplate not showing.  So far I've lost a handful of co-workers that I enjoyed a lot, even after just under a week.

We work in textbooks.  First my job description was to be busy keeping my aisle always stocked below, stocked above, to help students find what they need, and to answer and transfer calls, or to "guard" or do "book check" where you stow customers' bags before they enter the store.  I used to look forward to this time, because I could sit, but now they took away the chair.  Then after a couple days, my job description became to always look busy.  Now my job description is to at least hold a pulse and keep my eyes open.  You can spot the "old" employees (me) from the "new" employees -- the new ones are always so hardworking, while at any given time 85% of the old employees will be standing in one spot (out of their aisle, usually by the "Writing, Rhetoric, and American Studies" book section), leaning on things, and talking.  Sometimes we "scatter" when someone from management is approaching, but mostly we just continue leaning.  An acquaintance told our mutual friend he saw me there the other day "looking like she wanted to kill everyone."

I work either nine or ten hours a day, seven days a week.  This coming week classes begin, so I will be scheduled right up to and behind all of my classes (making it, still, an all-day day).  I get paid a little over six bucks, working full-time week.  I get no over-time.  I am exhausted by the end of the day.  I can't quit until I buy my books, though, because of the 10% discount I get.

3. My roommate Ashton is now officially fully moved in!  And she's A++.

4. My car battery is dead and I have no jumper cables (and neither do any friends I've asked so far).  I would just like to see how long I can go without driving my car, but I believe I have to go back to Jackson this weekend and then drive to Toronto, so that experiment is foiled.
