Everyone awaiting to enter the The Dome at Sydney Showgrounds Had to notify myself of my current status. "Your Supanova cherry has been taken!".
Arriving at the venue in partial costume was a shock itself to see the amount of people awaiting to enter the premises. Lines extruding left and right all around the circular structure. A whole block around! These weren't normal people but costume enthusiasts...or to suggest a title cosplayers. Ranging from any media driven medium like comics, books, movies, anime of Japanese & American cultures, TV shows and games these ciao ayers showed off their skill in designs to their love of whatever they dressed up as. Also includes the comedic aspect to make fun of one self or the subject. All great and good laughs in that combination.
I, being a small part of our group of 13 we took a theme and blew away the competition before any real competition started. Apart from being main attractions at this event we came to see everyone & thing else. Cosplaying, vendor stalls and celebrities all promoting themselves and in support of each other was a delight to see. Still it seemed a giant shopping mall sprinkled with enthusiasts it didn't seem personal. The personality came from all the individual cosplayers and excited fans. Every step was a photo opportunity of about a five minute pose. Perhaps we should of had our own stall as in group suggested.
A three day event is the span of this slight confined obsessiveness but a day was only needed to see everything that had to be presented and experienced. Different cosplayers each days is the napolitan flavour of choice.
X-Men comic we are!
I had fun. I'm sure everyone else did. Especially our group as a whole. Hope to return next year with a few character ideas in mind already.
