My (short) life as a Mafia mobster...

Jul 23, 2008 20:58

Over at the Cosplay.ph forums, we have a game of Mafia ongoing. For the third game, I had the dubious honor of being the first "repeat Mafia" since I played a Mafioso in the previous game.

The trick in the game is that there are about four Mafioso and 8 citizens. Citizens and Mafioso can vote to lynch someone via vigilante execution during the day phase (the one with the most votes from co-players get lynched). Meanwhile, during the night phase, the four Mafioso can vote for someone to die, but they all must send the gamemaster the same name.

All four Mafioso have an advantage: they know each others' identities. The Citizens do not.

Strangely enough, with two straight games of Mafioso winning, the Citizens apparently started getting serious. New background tactics arose, including having to show screencaps of your game status offline to prove you're a citizen. Of course, one of my co-players asked me to show mine... and I did.

So, how does this tie up? In the third game, I had the dubious honor of being the first to die (for the second game in my playing life :P) tonight. The cause? Apparently, one of the Mafioso broke the trust and blabbed to the Citizens that I was the one pulling the strings of the other Mafioso. The "traitor" even blabbed about my technique of forging my "Citizen's" status card.

I was shocked and stunned. Wow... that added a whole new wrinkle to the game. XD I started off angry but eventually turned amused.

Especially once I saw the PM going around:

Yes, the Poa was the head of the Mafia. XD

Anyway, Don Marco Polo a.k.a. Mark Evans was lynched and revealed to be a Mafioso. I'm going to play by the role and stay quiet while my remaining three co-Mafioso sort out the problem of having one of them die. It was fun while it lasted. :P
