Saturday Night Fever

Woke up with 5 hours sleep, no problem. Taught a kid that might as well be retarded with too much energy. Classes went fine, taught Francis a couple of trckis with the bo. Nobody shows up to "Phillips Ranch Day"/My first attempt at a mass introductory lesson. I'm crushed. In a bad mood, drive to Bert's Mega Mall for Chris because dad is too tired. Lame ass wait for food at Weinerschnitzel (how in the heel do you spell it?). Chris whined in the car on the way home because dad wouldn't co-sign for a dirt bike. I sit at home playing world of Warcraft for an hour or so, on my newly reformatted computer until Marisa calls me. I get directions and argue with mom on my way out the door. "You never said what time you were leaving." Take off at 6-ish, have to drive Chris' friend home before I get gas. Brought a bunch of mix CDs to listen to through the traffic, Mriss lives in northwest Hollywood. I saw the "Now Entering West Hollywood" sign, and wondered where the hell it was that Marisa moved to. I start to freak out a bit because I don't want to see my friend from high school living in a shitty studio apartment in West Hollywood next to everything seedy. I was relieved when I saw a bunch of gated houses, and people not afraid to walk up and down her street at night. No parking in the apartment area, have to find a spot on beachwood that takes 20 minutes. Walked the opposite direction for 20 minutes, knew I was turned around when I saw the bottom of the hill. Turns out I parked right next to her street and didn't even realize it, but I got the walking tour of Northwest Hollywood apartments, and mini-mansions. I liked the neighborhood after all. I walk up to the door, Mriss doesn't hear me knocking, finally looks up to see a Mark looking through her door. She's on the phone with Caitlin (I thought Caitlin was supposed to be there too, turns out she was just calling in)- I don't know what to do with myself, and play Colourbug. Eventually we go out to a hookah bar and discuss life and love. She's in love, it's cute. Mriss has always been the one to be giving advice, so it's an odd switch for me even to listen. Turns out to be "Mark and Marisa in highschool night" on the bar's radio. We drive around Hollywood for a while, haven't done that in a long time. We meet Mriss' friend Amber (ex-college roommate) at a bar called No Bar. First time I've ever actually been to a bar, outside of Oaktree lanes and the like. Some weird guy sits next to us and introduces us to "Scott Stapp," I laugh him off. It gets late, we head back to the apartment, Marisa plays me The Jesus Sisters on myspace music (her manfriend's side side project), I laugh my ass off. "So smooth, so goddamn smooth." With that, I leave home. Kind of sad at Marisa's current situation, but I know it's her transitional period, and I visited smack dab in the middle of it. I know she'll come out alright, she always does.
I can't wait to see Alyssa. Marisa approves too, calls her a "total babe," and gives me her full support on falling in love.
