Headcanon!

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

He's about 5'8 now and still growing. He's fairly thin and lanky, but he's got definite muscle to him.

2. How old is he?

16, as of February 25th in Luceti. (His 'headcanon' birthday is in November back home).

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?

When he's not doing anything, he tends to slouch. But if it's something serious, like being at work or in battle, he stands to his full height. He's likely to do that around other people as well, just because he values whatever height he has.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

He's perfectly healthy and very in shape. He's recently picked up on junk food, though.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

Sokka is cursed with comic ineptness and can be quite clumsy. Although he lacks the graceful movement of many of his friends, this does not take away from his effectiveness and his somewhat panicked way of avoiding attacks can be quite effective.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?

Sokka perceives himself as being very attractive. His success with women since leaving the South Pole has confirmed this. He seems to be aware of the fact that wearing his hair long can score him bonus points, as well. Unfortunately whatever attractiveness he might have is usually offset by the dumb expression he makes.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

He has a dark complexion, like most people from the Southern Water Tribe.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.

He keeps his hair up in top-knot most of the time (or wolf tail as he calls it). It's brown and when worn down, it reaches to about chin level.

9. What color are his eyes?

Blue.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

Nope.

11. What are his chief tension centers?

His forehead. He hits it a lot.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

He typically just wears traditional Water Tribe clothing (being typically varieties of blue). There's a little variety, but given where he grew up (and the eight months he spent traveling), he's accustomed to wearing the same pair of clothes for a few days in a row.

Although he doesn't wear them anymore, he has his Fire Nation outfit and Kyoshi Warrior uniformed tucked away. A thick Water Tribe parka is also in his closet for when winter comes back.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

His clothes fit, but are somewhat loose. He's very comfortable in them.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

When he's at the smithy and working on something, he usually has gloves, goggles, and an apron on. But that's about it.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

None of the above. I have no idea how to describe what he wears underneath. :|

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

When he's excited, fairly high pitched. But his voice can be fairly deep when he wants to, especially when trying to be Wang Fire.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

When he's being serious, he speaks fairly evenly. But when excited, he can be pretty loud. When trying to deliver a great deal of information, he can get carried away and start talking extremely fast. Normally he doesn't hesitate.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

Not... really. Given he's from another world, he likely has no recognizable accent in character. To people who watch the show, I guess he'd sound American.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

Whatever passes for the standard language in his world.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

Nope.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

He's a quick thinker and doesn't have a problem speaking, although his mouth can get ahead of him and he'll sometimes say stupid stuff without thinking.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Somewhere in the middle. If pressed into doing it, he has proven himself capable of making up Haikus on the fly.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?

A little of both, leaning towards the latter. His street-smarts tend to rely on a great deal of instinct (which is often correct) and the survival skills learned from living in the South Pole. However he is very inventive and understands complicated concepts very quickly. His time in Luceti is making him rather book smart as he expands his knowledge at the school and library.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

He prefers to think things through, but it's shown that Sokka can function just as well by making things up as he goes.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

He alternates from both. Most of the time he can be very logical, especially about things that earns his skeptical. Although not quite the leader of the group, he's typically the practical one who keeps them on course. He's been influenced by Aang and his sister though and he's proven to be somewhat idealistic lately.

4. What kind of education has the character had?

Like his sister, Sokka received what education he had from his Gran Gran and his survival skills from his father and the other men of his tribe. In Luceti he's started attending school, but he feels more comfortable educating himself and he's often seen at the library picking out books on sciences, mathematics, and other topics to 'catch up' on things he missed out on.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

His primary talents are with weapons (swordplay and boomerangs are his specialty), but he's proven that he can be fairly adept with just about any weapon. His other areas of expertise include smithing and hunting.

Although intelligent, Sokka's drive for learning anything is always based on what can be useful to him. He has no interest in things that can't be used to his advantage and his drive for knowledge tends to not be based on what is interesting to him, but what can give him an edge. As a result, he is interested in learning from other fighters, about the sciences, and any kind of magic that he is able to use.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

Definitely an extrovert.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

Sokka is pretty odd and goes back and forth. He's usually laid back and likes taking things easy, but he's also very aware of when things need to get done and can be very driven when on a tight schedule. His temper tends to be mild and he'll put up with the abuse he tends to receive from his friends for the sometimes silly antics he gets up to. He'll tolerate silliness from others, but stupidity from others frustrates him and he'll snap at people for failing to plan things through.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

He' s generall relaxed, but he's always suspicious of new people. He tends to get over this after enough time, but if someone is trouble, that suspicion doesn't tend to go away in a hury.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

He mostly reacts to things, but sometimes he can be the one to make the first move.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?

Definitely fight. But he knows when he's outmatched.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

Sokka loves humor in all its flavors, but he loves puns. Far too much, in fact.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

None. Some might argue otherwise.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?

The Fire Nation attacking - the day his mother died is still vivid in his memory. He stopped being a little kid on that day and started fashioning himself into a man that could one day fight the Fire Nation,.

His father leaving - he was thirteen when his father left for war, leaving Sokka as the oldest male in the tribe. He started seeing himself as a leader (even if it was more self delusion at the time) and the person responsible for keeping his home and family safe.

Meeting Suki - Sokka lost a lot of his chauvinistic ideas after meeting Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors. Although he might have some lingering ideas of what women are supposed to do, his opinion of what girls can and can't do is not what it once was.

The Day of Black Sun - having his father and the entire army imprisoned by his choice to not retreat when the battle was going poorly has been a sore spot ever since. He feels that his 'honor' was lost by his mistake and although he may have redeemed himself by freeing his father from prison and stopping the Fire Nation from incinerating the Earth Kingdom, his own feelings about his ability to lead and plan have been in question ever since.

14. What does he fear?

Failure. And food eating people.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?

To become a great warrior and leader like his father and a brilliant inventor like the Mechanist.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?

His own insecurities about his own failures and his lack of bending skills. He also relies on his sister a lot as a kind of maternal figure and he doesn't like telling people that.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.

Sokka idolizes his father and is convinced he can do no wrong. Unfortunately he can barely remember his mother, to the point that when he tries to think of his mother, he only sees Katara.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

He has a sister, Katara. They are very close, due to having lived in such a small village and experiencing so much together. Sokka relies on her as a kind of maternal figure at times, but he also takes his duties as an older brother very seriously. He's extremely protective of her and although he doesn't always agree with her, he'll always come around to helping her get out of whatever mess she's landed them in. Katara's irrational decisions are often irritating to Sokka and his own moments of stupity are just as annoying to her. They aren't above bickering, but their conflicts don't tend to last long.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?

Just his grandmother (or Gran Gran). Sokka loves his Gran Gran and most of his deadpan snarkiness was inherited from her. On matters of the village, he and his grandmother were often in agreement about things and seemed to function as the effective co-leaders of the tribe while his father was away.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?

Aang is practically a little brother to him and Katara at this point. Because Aang lost all of the airbenders to the war, Sokka and Katara are his family now. It took some time for Sokka to warm up to him, but Sokka and Aang are very close, even if their beliefs tend to be very different.

Although Toph has her own family, she's practically family at this point. Sokka sees her as being more like a little brother than Aang just because she tends to have more in common with Sokka than Aang does. It's a little awkward now, though, since Sokka has discovered that Toph harbors a crush on him and he's still not sure how to deal with that.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

Excusing his own sister, definitely Toph. They met when Aang was looking for an Earthbending teacher.

In Luceti, Winry is his closest friend. He met her while she was making a snowman.

6. Does he have other close friends?

Suki (his girlfriend) and Zuko are both close friends. In Luceti, there is also Hugo and Nash.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?

Sokka makes friends very, very quickly.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?

Family. Some of his friends are included under that definition.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?

Single.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?

His girlfriend, Suki. But being in Luceti means he hasn't seen her in four months.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?

Although Suki was his first girl, Yue was his first real crush. Unfortunately she became the Moon.

As for presently, Suki remains his latest.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?

Intelligent, outgoing, and someone who appreciates his humor. Being pretty helps.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?

Nooooo.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?

His primary rival would be Azula. Ever since he found out she had captured Suki, it's become personal. Suki might be safe now, but he still doesn't like Azula.

Jet would qualify as more of a rival than an enemy. He doesn't trust Jet and is skeptical that he really is a changed person.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?

He'd probably claim to be a 0.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?

It's something important for when he's married. Surprisingly he doesn't think about it much, being more occupied with more immediate concerns or ways to relieve boredom.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?

He doesn't quite know what those would be yet. Decorating his tent with roses might be a bit of a weird bedroom habit though.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?

His birthday (for headcanon) is in November, making him a Sagittarius. Although Water Tribe, he does have a somewhat fiery attitude and if not for the war, would likely be very at home in the Fire Nation.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?

Neither. Sokka knows spirits exists (his girlfriend became one!), but he thinks of them as just a fact of existence. He feels no special connection to them, other than the Moon Spirit.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

He sees himself as a warrior and believes in a sense of honor and conducts himself based on that. It was something he learned from his father.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?

Indifferent, for the most part. He's never held Aang's very different beliefs against him. It's only when someone's beliefs can lead to inaction that he can become intolerant, such as Aang's pacificist attitude towards fighting the Fire Lord. Of course, he can be very intolerant if someone's beliefs are just plain stupid, such as an entire village hanging on the words of a fortune teller.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?

He used to be prejudice against women, but he's dealt with that. Likewise, he used to hate the Fire Nation, but now he knows things are not that simple. His primary prejudice is his dismissal of things that he can't do. He rarely shows interest in bending (or magic from other worlds) because he can't use it. People who are fixated on things that can't be explained annoy him.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?

Living a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, money is fairly irrelevant to him. Money does exist where he comes from though, but by the end of the war he's likely to be fairly secure in his future.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?

Although his father is the chief of their tribe, he's considered a peasant, even by the Northern Water Tribe.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?

In a house made of snow! Or tents. His living arrangements are rather poor, but were drastically improved once the war was over.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?

Sokka loves shopping (more than the rest of the group) and enjoys spending his money on just about anything.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?

He's a hunter. He hasn't starved, so he isn't too bad.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?

Weapons! And food. He spends his free time either wasting time doing nothing... or working hard to become better at the stuff he already knows.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

He eats regularly and often, usually being in a constant state of wanting to eat. He favors meat, but he eats his veggies too.

Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is his favorite:
