Sokka the 41st - [Action/Voice]

Aug 15, 2010 10:07

[Today was just an average day for the Avatar house... or was it? No, it wasn't just because Winry and her housemates were still there. No, something far more ominous was going on. But hopefully the plumbing would work itself out later. On the other hand, Sokka woke up the same way he ever did. He threw on his clothes, parted his hair, and headed ( Read more... )

[Waking up to a scream coming through your journal and then finding out that one of your male friends - who is admittedly kind of cute - has been turned into a girl are not exactly conducive to a good night's sleep. And after all of the fighting they've been doing, Katara needs her rest. So it's not too surprising that she gets up a little bit later than normal, and that it takes a few minutes for Katara to realize that the brightly shining sun is a Very Good Thing.

Relief courses through her. Maybe she will just go back to bed.

Her stomach grumbles. Maybe not. Katara makes her way out of her room towards the bathroom. When she's gotten herself sort of decent, but not entirely awake, she comes out and sees the back of Sokka's head. His hair's still down. Weird, but then again she had taken over the bathroom.]

'Morning, Sokka.

[Now to rustle up some breakfast.]

[Sokka himself doesn't notice anything out of the ordinary. The fact she isn't wearing her braid is kind of odd, but it's not as if he cares about those sort of things. The dreariness of the morning obscures anything else odd about her. Before he has another spoon full, he raises a hand in greeting.]

'Morning, Katara. The milk's all gone.

[Sigh. Figures.

She takes out the leftover fish and starts to prepare a small breakfast roll with the leftover rice and greens. She should probably use it all up. Ed and Al and Winry and Toph, man, they're going to need food.]

'kay. We'll have to get some more fish today. I don't know if the monsters will still be out there, but the sun's back, so... maybe you'll have time to hunt.

[He lets out a groan, indicating he doesn't feel like hunting. He hates having to do it. All of it is so much work.]

Maybe if the sun's back, the food will be too. [Wishful thinking on his part.]

Wouldn't hurt to check. [She really doesn't miss dressing game.] It's good to see the sun again. Maybe things are finally starting to settle down.

It's about time they do. [He raises his bowl and finishes off the last of by slurping it down. Some things never change.] I'm getting sick of fighting monsters.

I guess there's one way to find out if they're still here. [And she raises her voice.] Koda! Naka!

[No zombie squirrels respond. At all. Katara frowns a little. She'll miss them.] I guess they're gone.

[But the breafast rolls are almost done. She takes two and walks towards the table.]

Huh. So that means Shiva might be gone too. [Just as Katara sits down, Sokka will be standing up, turning from her as he sets his bowl in the kitchen sink. He then peers out the window.]

... well, I don't see any beautiful twelve foot tall women out there, so I guess you're right.

[...beautiful 12 foot tall women?

Katara is glancing down at her food and by the time she looks up Sokka is far enough away that she does not immediately notice the height difference.]

I didn't know you liked your women blue.

[He gives a sidelong glance at her and laughs.]

I'm not usually into blue, but beauty is beauty, no matter the color.

[...this is starting to get really weird.]

She was a crazy ice-wielding demon from another world who was--

Huh? [He pats his face, thinking there might be a pimple of food on it.] Nothing. Why?

[Staring at him.]

You grew a beard. In a day.

[Like Dad's...]

[He strokes his beard.]

Well, Katara, I'll admit that I am pretty manly, but not even I could manage this in a day.

[Well, that sounded like Sokka, but...

She speaks very slowly, as if she was talking to someone who was very slow.] Yes, I know. That's why it's weird.

[Adrenaline is kicking in now, along with memories. Her conversation with Allen... Katara's eyes go very wide for a moment, and when she speaks it's an effort to sound calm past the heart that suddenly got stuck in her throat.]

Sokka. What do you remember about the person who gave me this?

[And her hand goes up to her arm bracelet - the one he helped put together for her while they were waiting for the draft.]

[He quirks an eyebrow. Man, she is acting weird.]

Allen gave that to you. He made it or something and you had me lengthen it. What does that have to do with my beard?
