Up until recently, Shiki was sort of just an acquaintance that he knew from his infrequent adventures at the "All Passions" clothing store run by Shiki, ever in pursuit of the perfect hat. Several months back he actually met the 'real Shiki' and saw what she was, apparently, supposed to look like. While certainly not as visually appealing as her current self, he did admit to her he found her real appearance to be pretty. That said, the whole identity thing is still way over his head and he just doesn't think about it much.
Shiki is a pretty good friend, even if they aren't close. He is impressed by her talents as a seamstress and he can certainly respect her sense of fashion, even if he has simpler tastes for himself. As a fellow shop owner, there is a certain bond there in being a person who also wastes their time doing work for free.
