[Background]
http://shadowhunters.wikia.com/wiki/Clary_Frayhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Mortal_Instruments_characters#Clary_Fray [Personality]
Willful, sarcastic, and stubborn to a point where it can become childish, Clary, at heart, really is just a sixteen-year-old girl.
Despite the extraordinary situations of her life and her Shadowhunter heritage, she was raised in modern-day New York City and enjoys anime, movies, drawing, and “couch time,” as she says, with her best friend. That said, she is also quite good at adapting despite her claim that she dislikes change, and does a remarkable job of not only taking in stride the various revelations about her past and family, but also willfully overcoming the challenges presented to her. She sometimes thinks of herself as weak and gets down on herself for being ‘useless’, especially since she is not very strong physically or trained in battle like other Shadowhunters, but she is actually quite good at thinking on her feet and quick to learn new things.
Clary’s emotions often get the better of her, at times to a point where she can be rather unreasonable, but, overall, she means well. Her family (in this case, her mother and Luke) and friends mean everything to her, proven by the fact that she strives throughout the books to save her mother, to protect her friends, and to use what means and strength she has to help them. She is passionate and rash-although she does try to control herself because she is aware of that fact, and it’s been pointed out to her that leaping into things without looking can be dangerous for both her and those she cares about. Still, her penchant for acting first and thinking later, especially when she gets emotional, is an essential part of who she is.
It is also noteworthy that, although Clary certainly has a strong sense of justice-even if that justice tends to be based on very youthful, simplistic good-and-evil logic-she is not above anger and even hatred, especially toward those who threaten her loved ones. At the same time, however, she is far from the type of person to try to see the bad in others; Clary tends to be encouraging and trusting, not to a naïve extent but certainly not disillusioned. She is brave, determined, and loves fiercely-qualities that often get her in trouble, but are completely sincere. Clary is true to herself, even when it hurts, and though that is a quality that can make her impossibly rash, stubborn, and critical of herself, it also gives her strength.
In addition, the feelings she develops for Jace throughout the series are another important aspect of Clary. After her mother is taken in the beginning of the first book and she first starts to get to know Jace, her relationship with him affects her and her choices significantly. In short, Clary is in love with Jace-and, as if love isn’t complicated enough, things become even more frustrating for her. Among her trials in the series, the emotional struggle to make sense of how she feels for Jace is key in Clary’s development as a character, so much so that several other characters even comment on how clear her love for him is just by the way she looks around him. She loves him very much, but even Jace is not beyond fault; Clary is perfectly capable of being angry with him and being able to see when he is acting in a self-destructive way or making a decision she doesn’t agree with. To find out, after having already fallen in love with him, that he is actually her brother is a great blow to them both, and Clary struggles greatly with her feelings, unable to overcome her emotions but at the same time understandably disturbed by her apparently incestual desire for him. Still, Clary is resolved to be with him in whatever way she can, heartbroken though she is after Jace makes an announcement that he wants to be ‘just her brother’ from then on because he thinks that is what she wants. She can’t bear to be away from him, and though she isn’t happy with simple friendship or being siblings, the times she’s tried to be apart from him in the series (as punishment to herself, for example) simply don’t work out; they keep drawing one another together again. Jace is her greatest weakness- and a source of great strength for her, a reason for her to keep fighting. Although all of her family and friends are very important to Clary, Jace in particular has a special place in her heart.
[Abilities]
As a Nephilim, even though she did not receive the training other Nephilim did when she was younger, her body is still a bit stronger and more resilient than a regular human’s. She has the ability to make Marks like any Shadowhunter-and then also has the ability, unique to her alone, to create Marks. The full scope of her ability is not revealed in the series, nor has she truly mastered it yet, but she has been shown capable of making new Runes and putting them to use in a variety of ways that other characters even comment should be impossible. She can create Portals, bring drawings to life, and even amplify the strength of Runes-though the latter may be limited only to those Runes that she comes up with herself (the canon example being that she imagines a Rune for open, and is then able to make its power much stronger later in the book).
[Other important stuff that might have been covered by history but might also be worth mentioning again]
As one can probably see from her name(s)-Clarissa Fray/Fairchild/Morgenstern-Clary’s family is complicated, to say the least. She was raised by her single mother, who tried to hide her Shadowhunter heritage from Clary, as well as the world beyond that which Mundanes see. This is the reason that, though a Shadowhunter by blood, Clary’s personality and cultural upbringing are greatly affected by a modern-day urban atmosphere. Also, although she emotionally considers Luke, her mother’s close friend, to be her real father-figure, Clary’s blood-related father is actually the main antagonist of the series, Valentine Morgenstern-whom she hates. To make matters even more complicated, her love interest, Jace, is also thought to be Valentine’s son and thus her brother for most of the series. This makes things very hard for Clary, who has fallen in love with him by the time she discovers their alleged relation, and she has a very difficult time trying to convince herself that they cannot be together despite how strongly she feels for him.

[First Person]
₪ If you could go back home, would you? Why or why not?
I need to go back home! I need to save my mom. I know how now, or I will know how, at least, but I need to get to Ragnor Fell-so I need to go home. Preferably as soon as possible.
₪ What were you doing before now?
Are you even listening to anything I say? I was trying to get to Idris so I can save my mother.
₪ You are given a mission. Would you complete it effectively or would you goof off and do something else? Expand a little on the response.
I seriously think you’re mocking me now.
₪ Someone comes to you to ask for the time. How would you respond?
I’d tell them what time it was. What kind of question is that?
₪ You have two options: either save your friend who is hanging from a cliff, or chase after the bad guy who put them in a position. If you choose the former, the bad guy will get away and it will be hard to catch him. If you choose the latter, the cliff will crumble and the friend will fall to the spiky rocks below. What do you do and why?
Of course I would stay and save my friend. We’ll catch the bad guy. Even if it takes a long time and it’s difficult-the most important part is that we’re both alive.
₪ You discover someone stalking you. Do you call the police or deal with it yourself?
Considering the fact my best friend is a vampire and my [slight wince, as though the term bothers her] brother is the self-proclaimed best Shadowhunter in his age group? [snort] I’d almost feel bad for the stalker.
₪ The hottest boy/girl in class/workplace just confessed their love to you. How do you respond?
I’d have to politely decline. I mean, I wouldn’t want to be mean about it but it just… wouldn’t work. Definitely not. …Don’t you think that’s a bit of a private question to ask, anyway? [Let’s move on now. Clearly, she’s not comfortable with the subject of love at the moment.]
₪ There is a cake in the rain. What do you do?
Is it on the ground? I’d probably… walk around it, I guess.
₪ You find yourself on a robot unicorn. What do you do?
Press Z to go faster, right? Or was that one the button for jumping…
₪ Some angry birds come to you to help them defeat some evil green pigs. Do you help them out?
I think Simon plays that game. Apparently the pigs are annoying or something.
₪ Am I asking too many personal or strange questions?
Yes. Are you done now?
₪ The blue pill or the red pill?
…yeah, this is getting ridiculous.
[Third Person]
She couldn’t really decide which was worse: the dreams of reality, of her mom laying motionless and pale on that hospital bed- or the dreams that everything was just how it was supposed to be, that her mother was laughing beside her in her paint-spattered overalls, waving her brush enthusiastically as she talked while Clary gently reminded her the paint on it was still wet.
It was never easy, waking up happy and warm and opening her eyes to remember everything all at once. And what hurt the most was how close she’d been. She’d been able to imagine so clearly the moment she finally helped her mother out of that horrible coma-like state, the moment her mother’s hand wasn’t limp in her own as Clary talked alone into the bone-crushing silence. Luke and Magnus had said she couldn’t make Portals, but they’d been wrong; like she would let something like that stop her anyway. She’d done the impossible, she’d been on her way, so close and so hopeful-
And then she’d wound up here. Here where her mother was literally worlds away, and helping her felt like an impossibility. The only saving grace was the fact her friends were here, Simon, Jace- especially Jace. She’s felt guilty afterward, but Clary couldn’t deny to herself that, for a few breathless moments, seeing Jace when she’d thought she’d been so alone had made her forget everything, even her mission to save her mother. It was like his brightness had overwhelmed all else just then, only for a few seconds but long enough for that rushing happiness, that surge of love and want and hope and crushing recollection as reality caught up. Embracing him was still so hard because she never wanted to let go.
Still, even Jace’s presence couldn’t hold back reality for long. And besides, of course she wouldn’t have really wanted to forget: her mother needed her. The thought of which just brought her back around full-circle. Her mother needed her, and she was stuck. It was so frustrating she could just scream. Clary hated not being able to do anything.
“Clary? Are you all right?”
She looked up, brushing messy red hair from her face and wincing as her arm protested achily when she propped herself up; she must have been laying on it at an odd angle, having fallen asleep without meaning to on Simon’s couch while they’d been playing video games an hour or two ago.
Clary nodded, sitting up fully and stretching, forcing her frustrations aside for now. She shouldn’t worry Simon. “Yeah.” She should be grateful her friends were here, at least, no matter how frustrating things got, no matter how angry and bitter and trapped she could feel when she let herself dwell like that. For now, she had to do the best she could here. She would find a way home, and then she would find the warlock who could help her mother-and then, while she was at it, she and the others would find a way to stop Valentine. She had to believe that.
Simon, looking unconvinced, stepped closer, his eyes quizzical, faintly concerned; he knew her too well. And, in turn, he looked familiar as ever, despite the situation and all they’d been through and the fact he didn’t need his glasses anymore. Simon, and the others… She had people who cared about her, and that was what was important: things were hard, but she wasn’t alone.
Clary smiled, stretching out her arm again to get the stiffness out. “Yeah, I’m fine. But remind me not to sleep on your couch again. I need this arm to do things like draw and eat and kick your ass at Mario Kart, you know.” She leaned over to grab the game control again, grinning. Simon lifted a brow. Challenge accepted.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Because I love the awesome cast. :D
[Which rule was your favorite and why?]
Be nice to other players. Because, well-RP is about having fun. Things are much more fun if everyone is nice to each other!
