Oh god anything but five.sapphire_sniperJune 30 2011, 20:02:30 UTC
[Sure, Michael's still healing from being experimented on by the Malnosso for two weeks straight, but if he stays idle any longer, it's going to drive him completely MAD. But in between abusing himself in high-intensity firefights, our favorite sniper might be up on the observation deck himself, enjoying lunch.]
[Oh, it's Michael. Katara hesitates for a moment, her eyes streaked with saffron. She knows he's been harboring deep feelings for her for some time, but she's yet to decide how she feels about him. Perhaps it would be kinder to pass him by...
...or maybe it would be better - more fun - to sit close by him and attempt to figure out this strange chemistry between them.]

[Her eyes fade to a celestian gleam as this eliminates the 'just walk away' option. She could never be so rude to him, he didn't deserve that surely...
So, gracefully, as if she was walking through water, Katara makes her way over to him. There may be some sparkle action going on too.]
Of course, I'm well now that I'm back here. Fortunately I don't remember anything that the Malnosso did there, unlike last time. [And she shudders before taking a seat.]
[Blatant. Lies. He can sense something's up, but Michael knows the best way to handle this sort of thing is play along.]
I only got back just a few days ago myself. I can't count myself as lucky as you, except in that they don't seemed to have left me with any lasting effects worse than a few bruises and a fracture or two.
[Yeah, DEFINITELY not herself. Not that he's complaining, of course.]
They were careful to not leave any injuries that won't be back to a hundred percent in another week or so. [Grin.] But the sentiment helps, particularly coming from you~
[Oh god what. SO not the Katara he knows... and as that starts to sink in, so does a sense that this exchange, while pleasant, feels somewhat cheapened.]
So what brings you to the Battle Dome today anyway? Practice for how to defend yourself without bending?
[Still trying to puzzle out if he's amused or disturbed by this whole thing.]
They're no more violent than any other weapon, really. Quicker certainly, and packing a lot more force behind a single slug than you'd get from the swing of a blade. I'm no fan of having to kill people, but if it's a life and death situation, I'll take a fast, clean end to the conflict every time.
Point taken. ...Maybe you could teach me some water-bending forms sometime? From seeing you work them, they're a lot like the more conventional martial arts from my world. After hearing what the combat was like in the last draft, I've been thinking I should learn other ways of defending myself- my rifle would have been useless after the first day in that mess.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! If only I still had my powers! I'd be able to try to help you.

[...yup. The girl who's usually running around doing a ton of different things just felt like coming by to watch other people work. Totally typical.]

Oh? That's a shame- I was half hoping you'd be interested in learning how to handle a firearm.

[And she shudders delicately, sparkling as she does so.]
