I got here in January, so I got to see a little snow, but where I was born, it never got really cold, and where I work now is all desert and mountains. I could see the snow, but wasn't in it often, or for long.

No, I surfed too. My parent's house was actually on a cliff overlooking the ocean. My friends and I would spend a lot of time out on the water.

That sounds really nice. Our village was right by the ocean too, but... it wasn't often the kind of weather you wanted to go swimming in.

Yeah. But we all had to learn how to swim anyway - you couldn't go fishing unless you could take care of yourself if something happened.

Best way to learn. Might not be comfortable, but you'll definitely understand the necessity of swimming.

Well no, not exactly. We'd fish, and whale, and hunt.. but a lot of our resources came from the sea.
