Review of Buddy Cop Show!
Finally I have time to give my thoughts on my esteemed friend, Aaron Johnson's, first venture into television length productions, Buddy Cop Show.
First, a plug. Go to prettypennyproductions.com and/or buddycopshow.com for a good time! There you can view and/or buy buddy cop show for your viewing pleasure. I would recommend buying a DVD because the quality is better, and Aaron Johnson will stop making me feel bad about my lack of advertising if you do.
Synopsis
Buddy Cop Show is a series of 4 television-length episodes that follow the marvelous adventures of Orville Redenbacher and Carson Daily, every-day cops, as they fight, argue and dance their way through the various positions available at Columbia police department. Orville (played by Bobby Frankenburger) is a gritty, experienced, slow-witted cop who contrasts marvelously with Carson Daily (Ryan Reynolds) who is a laid back, by-the-book, every-day sort of person. They square off against a bunch of dastardly villains, such as Frenchmen and computer hackers, and do it in style!
Good
Buddy cop show is hilarious! At it's core and very soul lies witty writing and delightful characters who are plum-full of originality and kindly fragrances. I watched the showing at the Nick with a sell-out crowd and the audience was alive with laughter throughout! There was nary a dull moment at which I could sip my beer without spraying the young boy in front of me with saliva and Corona. The attention to detail was also quite enjoyable. Details such as toasters flying around behind the credits in the hacker episode. Details such as references to Myst-style puzzles and custom, story-relevant songs.
Bad
I have very little bad to say about these films. Of course there were a few editing oddities, like confusing cuts, and some of the production values in spots were a little lacking. But they did not detract from the film at all! I was far too busy enjoying myself to take any of the few flaws to heart.
Ugly
Aaron Johnson's mustache! That's right! Take that you coercive fiend!
