I had a great time today hanging out with friends at the Stripes Second Garage Sale... This past week, though, has been very exhausting. I've been getting very tired lately, and it's not when I'm staying out late. It's also when I've had a full night's sleep, taken a nap. Maybe I should go in and have this checked out, eventually. Work has been amazing, busy, and satisfying; what with both the Open Heart Surgery and Cardiac ICU opening up last Monday. We have exceeded our initial plans of 2-3 surgery cases a week, to about 6; and the CICU has been keeping a steady census or 4-6 patients every day. And all the nurses were complaining about finding things to do on Monday!?
What has this meant for me? Mostly, making sure that everyone is where they're supposed to be. Acting as the brain for both of my directors, a few of the managers, and some other staff. Friday, around 2p, the Cardiac surgeon came up to me and asked to have the nurses and techs paged for an emergency case. Needless to say, less than 1/2 an hour later, the patient was in the OR, being prepped and ready to go. I hate to say it, but it was exciting; and fulfilling in the way that, in some small way, I am part of the team that is saving this patient's life!
But, back to Saturday... I really enjoyed spending the afternoon with Tim, Timeh, Alex, Jeff, Paul, Nhat, Krista, Keri, and brief appearances by Noah and Branson. About 2:30-ish, we had eye-candy sightings; the boys and I spent the whole time they were there commenting on what we would like to do with and to them. Dollar wise, we didn't do as well as last time, but we sold more smaller ticket items. At the end, we were all tired, everyone left and Kristi and I took naps. We both overslept for Daniel's going away party. I almost didn't go, but roused up what little energy I had to clean up and drive over to Dave & Buster's. Dinner was great, conversations were odd, but stimulating. More eye-candy and D&B's. After food, I was satisfied, but fading. Kristi had never been there, I thought she'd been there before. She stayed, and is getting a ride home with someone. I left, got home and am now about to crash hard...
And, what, you may ask, is on the menu for tomorrow? Brunch at 71 St. Peters, sleep, and karaoke at KoC.
