Eek. Work just got all hard and mathematical, and I find myself having to learn the lexicon of "pure" maths- not stuff I'm very familiar with. It does, however, provide enough light humour to entertain the sufficiently geeky people who have to study this stuff, with things that sound rediculous and definitely a whole lot more exciting than they actually are: the
Blum Blum Shub pseudorandom number generator being one of them.
Normally I would jump up unfazed at this, proud of my engineering expertise, but some of the weekend's events have left me deep in thought about too many things. Perhaps I'm finally coming out of the pressure of the academic year. Last night I was suffering just about all the symptoms of acute feeling-sorry-for-myself, but luckily a kind-hearted soul by the name of
Sam has offered to join me for tea and a chat tomorrow evening, so I fear I may even have to recover before I get as far as eating worms in the garden...
