I woke up early this morning and read the dictionary. i had a bunch of words i wanted to look up, mainly nmaes to try to the understand some of the possible connotations of the names of characters in a novel I am writing. Michael means "like God" and Frank means "Liberal, generous, unreserved" after the character of the Germanic invaders of gaul (the Franks).
The book I am working on is That Undiscovered Country, my Cambodia novel which i cannot seem to get the right voice for. i keep rewriting the beginning and never feel satisfied with the narrator....funny, the plot and characters are pretty well worked out.
Last night I was at tadg's bar catching up with some old friends aged 59, 61, 69 and a new friend aged 8o.
Bob waugh is an english teacher ,Scorpio born November12, who came here at 45. he was born in 1924 and was a percussionist inthe NZ symphony orchestra and uses rhythym a lot in his teaching. Great bloke, spoke like a young man. It was a very pleasant night.
