Right. During the election year? Or after the election, then Obama can totally live up to campaign promises on DADT, civil liberties, tax cuts for the rich, Wall Street reform, climate change, etc. Honest. For real this time. No fake compromises.

That's one of the things I find incredibly irritating about the Obama administration: it's never a good time to do anything, except cave.

Can't fix Wall Street right now, they're in a crisis.

Can't fix DADT right now, we're fighting a war.

Can't actually fight for real HCR, because we need the drug companies on board.

Can't vote on tax cuts BEFORE the election, because the vote is too hard.

Can't fix tax cuts after the election, because, well, because we have no spine.

That, and the uber-patronizing "if you're against this, it's just because you didn't understand it"....

My favorite quote:

"People will have the satisfaction of having a purist position and no victories for the American people. And we will be able to feel good about ourselves and sanctimonious about how pure our intentions are and how tough we are, and in the meantime, the American people are still seeing themselves not able to get health insurance because of preexisting conditions or not being able to pay their bills because their unemployment insurance ran out."

Because it didn't work at all for the Republicans (or Clinton).
