I love so much of what this post chooses to be.

I find your B/R thoughts really interesting. And refreshing? I mean, I've never come across anyone who sees them the way you do.

And, dude, let me flail over the way you see Buffy and Spike. Because. Out of all the first-timers I've known, you GET THEM, like, INSTINCTIVELY. It is amazing. I want to direct the entire fandom over to this post, because you GET IT so much better than I've ever seen it.

Just, these two insights:

she likes him sometimes and can never admit that because the flip side of liking him isn't just him, it's the bad parts of her-but her deciding implicitly to be good-Buffy again profoundly doesn't work because that's already between them and is acknowledged as a masque.

YES. I think this is the thing that makes them more equal than her other relationships? The fact that Spike can see - and be the victim of - all those bad parts, and still love her. Because that is the way he is built. All the parts that she's not capable of accepting in herself, line up with all ( ... )

I LOVE RILEY FINN. I loved him first, I came out of the first three seasons not imagining myself able to ship Buffy with anyone, and then suddenly there he was, all lovely and human and smiling and banter-capable and it was this giant rush of OH. They're so good for each other. They don't need to be epic; for a while there, they get by on being simply good and human and good enough-which for me makes the falling-apart really tragic, because it's never been a superhero romance until it's a superhero tragedy.

Hee, I've made the post public in case you ever need ~resources~. Really almost because this fandom needs public defenses of Riley Finn: anythingbutgrey and I are apparently the only people in the fandom who go around saying he's lovely. I could explain Spike FOREVER & EVER & EVER, of course, because I just want to talk about him ALL THE TIME-basically, I am a meta-waving white knight for my characters when I need to be.

I really really hope that the rest of the series lives up to your expectations?OH GOD, I HOPE SO TOO. I suspect there's going ( ... )

Yeah, I know that I'm in the minority in liking him consistently/finding him sympathetic through pretty much his entire run.

FAITH. She does not disappoint.

I actually really enjoy "Dead Things" and then "Entropy" up through the first 20 minutes of "Grave". The last 20 minutes of "Grave" makes me want to stab myself in the face, though. It's a really hit-or-miss time.

FINALLY I AM HERE.

THE THINGS THIS ARC CHOOSES TO BE. IS SO STEEPED IN SO MANY OF THE BEST DECISIONS THIS SHOW HAS EVER MADE. I JUST. THIS ARC.

I KNOW RIGHT???? There is so, so much hate for S6 and I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. HOW DO PEOPLE NOT SEE THE PERFECTION THAT IS BUFFY/SPIKE???

(I love that he comes to the party in the next episode with his face a mess and is, of course, hilariously off-the-cuff about it. It's good continuity and just, well, very much the character.

So many people get so upset about this! They want there to be all this ~fallout from that (AWESOME) "Dead Things" scene, but I so agree that this is so in character and I love it. Also! Did you notice the scene where he and Buffy have been playing cards together. She really does enjoy being around him!

My feelings on "Dead Things" are the most straightforward ever: IT IS AWESOME. And I'm done.

KNEW IT!

Now. Okay. I used the phrase "rejection as seduction" a while ago-in regard to "Fool For Love", and "you're beneath me", the biggest textual OMG ever ( ( ... )

I read the first sentence and saw 'I shipped Buffy/Riley' and squealed 'Me too! Me too!' I actually found their arc to be marvelously bittersweet and I still maintain that 'He's so boring' really translates as 'He's so not Angel.'

Agree completely on Sam, the actress has this really false, smarmy quality to her that threw the dynamic off for me. Shame.

Oh, oh, oh! You have Tara love! And Spike and Tara love! And Buffy and Tara love! I'm just glorying in your me-but-with-extra-clever-ness right now.

Okay I can't read anymore. Or I'll just spend the whole day in a haze of remembering how Buffy and Spike killed me and get absolutely nothing done.

But wow, you're so wonderful.
