She Laughs Like God
Battlestar Galactica, noir!AU. R. Featuring Gaius Baltar and the femme fatale in his brain; possibly the most self-indulgent 7000+ words I will ever write. (...Best not to tempt fate. But really, now.)

I haven't read this yet. I read the summary and my brain made a high pitched squealing sound and you spoil me. SPOIL.

Oh god, the first section. You're killing me. How am I supposed to make my way through all of this without death?

holy shit

There were several moments in this where I like bit my tongue or made some incoherent noise. I love this a lot. It's stunning.

Ah, babe. See, I never have to watch the show when I can just bask in this which is all I wanted from it, clearly! I love your faustian Gaius headspace - twined in the arms of his very own Helen and looking for Mephistopheles in every corner. Yes, yes, yes. Bloody gorgeous prose and imagery all over, my love.

Oh man now all I want is a Faust retell where Helen actually acts as the Mephistopheles. (And is played by Tricia Helfer.)

And, pretty much. Though you should also write me things from it, je pense-just to hit that robot-goddess-makeouts-on-beds-of-bones sweet spot now'n'again; this is a thing everyone should do.

PS: Deadwood t'night, peut-être?

Eugh I want to say yes to Deadwood tonight but my mother and my sister are here and while normally I would peace out I have to share my bed with my sister tonight, and she is generally not so down with the cozy glow of the laptop! If you are free tomorrow night? And if you're getting antsy you can go ahead yourself tonight, I will hold no grudges!

Ha, I understand completely! Tomorrow should be fine (lol @ the idea that I'm in a TV rush. I'll start Leverage or Caprica, ahaaa. TOO MUCH TELLY, TOO LITTLE TIME/FOCUS, I TELL YOU WHAT.)

oh wow i already reblogged this on tumblr to flail about it but this is amazing, easily my favorite bsg fic. you've captured their characters so effortlessly, and the physicality is stunning and your prose is gorgeous. i love the ending especially The future looks like her, and she glows. is such a fantastic line!

(also you made me go out and find a gaius/six icon to use just to comment on this :D)

Ahhhhh, thank you! (They have the best bodies in the world, those two; I swear, half their story is written in the way they move.)

Oh, that's fucking good. I really appreciate being able to hear their voices, and in some cases Gaius's voice through parts of the narrative, like he and the narrator interweave. It's all vaguely hallucinatory, which is perfect, of course, for these two. The phrase "everything you need to know, you know already" repeated sounds deliciously, eerily similar to "all this has happened before, and all of it will happen again" - it is both meaningful and a warning, a deadbolt slamming shut, a ship settling, an anchor. You captured an ethereal dream-like moment in one man's life and you did it very well - again, it seems like it could have happened many years before the Battlestar plot, or instead of: an alternate timeline. These two will always meet, and she will always refuse to leave him, and he will always break to her will ( ... )

Ahh, all this is so wonderful to hear-you indulge me, I think! And ha, I googled the prayer and trimmed it of 'et's because I wanted it to sound like a catalogue, like he's ticking through the figures in his head, keeping it a little wrong because he's naturally averse to prayer as an entity, but I fixed "spiritu" because that was just mistyped. Thank you for pointing it out, and thanks for reading! (AND TALKING ABOUT THEM, ah, God, I will never tire of their perfection.)
