League of Legends RPF, a quick primer on Deft, imp, and Rekkles
Me a month ago: I should get back into watching some LoL to do some research on pro-gaming and write an Internet AU for xyz!!
Me less than a month later: oh my godddd I regret everything.

The Players:
Deft -
Name: Kim Hyukkyu
Born: October 23rd, 1996
a Korean pro-gamer that plays AD Carry for EDG in China. Often compared to an alpaca by his Korean fans. Considered shy and doesn’t talk much, but has a weird goofy side as well. He is known for his very technical plays/team-fighting focus and is considered one of the most mechanically gifted players currently still in the pro-game scene. Although he's fairly stoic for the most part, he's been criticized for having a weak mentality and easily tilted in-game and takes a long time to recover. For example back when he was at Samsung Blue if he felt he was losing his lane, he would get "salty" and lose his cool- resulting in all of his hyungs having to come stop what they were doing to support him. Since moving to China and playing in the LPL, his laning phase has gotten stronger, making him a more complete AD Carry. I could go on and on all day about Deft and how great he is, but this primer is meant to be brief so have some cute pics instead.
Imp -
Name: Koo Seungbin
Born: June 7th, 1995
a Korean pro-gamer that plays AD Carry for LDG in China. Known for being one of the best AD carry in the world and is super confident in his ability to carry his team to victory (just listening to the commentators go nuts over his plays makes my day). He’s tiny, but deadly and does everything with a sort of cocky air that has led fans to term everything he does as “impin' ain't easy." He also has an unfortunate (or hilarious, depending on who you ask) reputation for making other AD Carries cry at big tournaments. (ie: "you saw piglet cry, right?") Is also hella weird, but adorable in his own way. His aegyo is on point. Also has a penchant for wearing disgustingly expensive givenchy shirts...idk
Rekkles -(prononunced reckless)
Name: Martin Larsson
Born: September 20th, 1996
a Swedish pro-gamer that plays AD Carry for Fnatic. Looks a little like Draco Malfoy, but is super charming and smiley. Nearly everyone that meets him talks about how kind he is, Deft in particular has noted that their friendship is built off of Rekkles’s kindness. Grew up playing soccer (football) and was reportedly very talented at it, but then injured his knee when he was 13. He then picked up LoL and joined Fnatic in 2012 although he was held back by the age limit and unable to join the main roster until Season 4 (2014).

Deft and Imp played together for 2 years under Samsung on sister teams (blue/white, respectively) before moving onto the Chinese league abroad where Deft now plays for EDG while Imp is at LGD.

As for the three of them together? I think this screen cap just about covers it. See jealous!imp ask Deft out to grab chicken, only to be turned down coldly in favor of Rekkles who is ~handsome and tall~. The "all men are the same" comment from imp at the bottom still kills me idk.

- The two had a super tight bond despite the friendly rivalry that acclimated in their teams facing off at the World Championships Semi-Finals in 2014
- During that year's championship Imp talked about wanting to win so badly that he wanted to make Deft cry (but of course after actually beating Deft and making him cry, Imp regretted it immediately afterwards).
- The two are still close friends, arguably closer than ever since they're both Korean pro-gamers playing for Chinese teams, stranded in China with limited knowledge of Chinese.

Deft+ Rekkles:
The story of Deft and Rekkles is the DREAM INTERNET FRIENDS AU TO END ALL INTERNET FRIEND AUS. I’m not even kidding.
- Just go through this whole tumblr dedicated to the two of them being overly lovey dovey to each other.
- They tweet each other disgustingly cute things (see: THANKS BABE).
- Their origin story is essentially: Rekkles found Deft online through the LoL Korean ladder where Deft was highly ranked and watched his matches as a spectator. In his own words, Rekkles “fell in love” almost at first sight and idolized Deft and his gameplay. He then reached out to Deft to talk about their favorite champion and after dozens of exchanges over the internet the two finally met in person during the 2014 World Championships where they became fast friends.
- They still talk to each other at least once a week on Skype despite the fact that they’re on opposite sides of the world and Deft speaks broken English at best. Rekkles apparently breaks his own fluent English down into small chunks so that he and Deft can communicate with one another. If that’s not true friendship idk what is.
- Look at them be cute in this hilarious, subtext filled feature made by Riot (the company that created LoL) themselves.
- Rekkles only has nice/flattering/flirty things to say about Deft
- Isn't Rekkles too swoon worthy tbh???
- Deft answer the question: list the top 3 handsome league players
- Rekkles is on a train and a fan tweets: "Breakfast date with Deft?" to which Rekkles replies: "I wish."
- Also this interview where they’re asked about their bromance and Rekkles proudly tells the interviewer that they swapped hoodies after the match and that Deft will always “have his smell.”
