There is much opportunity and some pitfalls dilinger December 16 2008, 20:43:05 UTC

I just bought a house this year. I had to dig an 80 ft trench and lay some conduit to get power to my garage, (apparently it was cut and the wires I thought I could repair were actually 8 feet short of the main breaker box, in conduit that was actually rusted completely through.)

Then I had a gas leak and had to dig a 40 to 50ft trench and replace a 10-15 foot section, along with rethreading each and every section.)The gas company locked out my meter and I had to get a city permit before they would turn it back on.

Wait there is more, my septic kept backing up, and lucky the plumber dug this ditch because I was at work, though I had to flush it out a bit, about 10 feet of digging, 3 ft deep, (the other trenches were only 12 to 15 inches)
But we pulled a 7 ft root that was clogging about more then 50% of the pipe) So I replaced the schedule 40 10 dollar crap and installed the 27 dollar ABS pipe. Because it doesn't bend when you stand on it.)

We got to take the furnice apart just to be sure. (it really wasn't in bad shape. All in all not bad for what I paid.

Good luck and happy hunting!
