down the rabbit hole...
I am really excited about Ponyo! Watched it this weekend at AFO and was thinking the whole time "I want to watch this with my Kaedmon. I want to watch this with Vanessa. I can't wait 'till we can watch this with Anya." US release date is still (I think) August 14th.

I sent a link this morning to hymnia about an [anime] movie we learned about (but couldn't remember the exact title) in the "What Anime Should I Watch?" panel (hosted by Daryl Surat). As she pointed out, it seems likely that it had some influence on Rahxephon (which I completely enjoyed...and frankly, I like it better than Eva so nyah,nyah,nyah!). Also, In spite of the excellent information in the panel, that question still burns in my mind: what anime should I watch?
So then I recalled some info from the Dragon Ball panel about how it was based on "Journey to the West" (along with a number of other manga/anime series)... and in turn stumbled upon the probable source for the name "Nagini". Interesting...but then, J.K. Rowling is very clever with all the names in the HP universe. --And then went back to reading about Journey to the West (which I will finish reading after this post).
All that to say, it kinda makes me want to read the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. Ok, so, what anime novels should I watch read?
I'm also going to go out on a limb and say, I think Naruto might actually be a decent show if it weren't for all the Naruto fans...yeah, that's pretty much the problem right there; too bad I'll probably never watch it now. Blech.
