The good, the bad and the freakin' DNS server

It's been a long day already, and it's only 2:50. Here then, is a rundown of what's been going on since, say, Midnight in convenient Lopelist form:
  1. Some idiot this morning, right around 2:15AM (right after the bars close) was flying down the road in what sounded like a Mini, but could have been a motorcycle. He was spinning out the car. Or maybe he was "drifting". I though he had wrecked, but then he roared (well, buzzed) past and did it again. I would have fallen back asleep, but he woke up the cat and well, I pretty much had to get up too.
  2. So I walked into the office about 7:30 this morning, so I could write the outline I should have written last night, after our pinko client called us AGAIN at 5PM with significant feedback. I thought I'd have some quiet time to kick out this doc and you know, catch up with Brangelina and stuff, but our executive producer was already in the office! In a suit! He was sucked in by the Nordstrom half-yearly sale. A sale which I need to visit myself, since I need a few more shirts.
  3. So Steve and I are working for a bit and then the power goes off. Our HVAC system made a VERY dramatic sound. Everything but the big halide lights came back up immediately (or so I thought). However, we soon found that we couldn't get online. Settings were tweaked. Re-tweaked. The Airport hijacked our IP addresses. The airport was turned off. Settings were tweaked. Set manually, Assigned by DHCP. I was online, then off. Wayne was off. Steve was on... No off. Our setting kept reverting to some weirdo IP set. Support was called. Yes, I've cycled the power on the router, the IPK and the DSL. Yes! Look it's just right here behind the..... Box controlling our DNS, which hasn't been rebooted. Swift.
  4. So after finding this out, with Steve and Deryk at lunch prior to flying to Santa Cruz (not Wayne). I get to go home and have some lunch. Had to go home since that troublemaker Ellie kitty (after waking up at 2AM) wouldn't come inside this morning. Just as I'm walking in the door, my phone rings. It's Steve. "How fast can you get back to the office?" Turns out they forgot to print their boarding passes. On Southwest, that's a major oversight. You're back in "C" with the chicken and pig people for sure. Raced back to work. Lunch in the car
  5. We had a major meeting this morning with a large local shoe manufacturer that does NOT start with the letter N, and it went very well. Now I'm all charged up, but I gotta get over myself and kick out a few budgets. I need to take a breath and focus. I think I'll head home for a bit and finish this work this evening.
  6. Yeah, I might blow off the meetup. I'm not sure. Kinda depends on the weather and whether or not I can get in the groove work-wise
  7. I can't believe I didn't realize it was the DNS box. Friggin' idiot!! Why don't we have a UPS on this thing.
  8. Shopping time

computers, work
