One of Oliver's 'get away from the farm' trips took him here. Yes, it was a long trip.
And then his van broke down, and he's hoping there'll be someone to help in this slightly creepy-looking town. Out of habit, Oliver finds himself walking towards the church.
The conversation drops, and for a long moment there's only uncertain silence.
A man eventually opens the door, caution and curiosity on his face in equal parts. In the rear, just in front of the altar, an old woman watches with amazed annoyance.
A startled, concerned expression crosses Oliver's face. "Madame, I am not," he says calmly. "I was exploring the area when my van broke down. I know of no demon here."
"Nothing is to be gained from floundering about at random. You must follow the path." She moves back to the altar, gathering up a small triangular pyramid.
The man, if anything, looks MORE clueless than Oliver. "What?! What are you talking about?"
She holds up the pyramid for all to admire. "Here, the Flauros, a cage of peace. It can break through the walls of darkness and counteract the wrath of the underworld. These will help you." She deposits it in his hands. "Make haste to the hospital before it's too late!"
And then, she turns and stalks swiftly through one of the doors.
The man looks from the door to the Flauros to Oliver, still trying to take all this in.
"She disappeared after our car crashed. I know she went to the school, but I didn't find her there."
Frowning at the Flauros, he adds, "I don't know if this woman really knows anything, but if it means finding Cheryl, I've got to take the change. I've got to find that hospital."

Through the door, he can hear muffled conversation.

"Forgive me for interrupting," Oliver says, because he obviously is. "Only, my van broke down - is there a repair shop nearby?"

"What has brought you here? Are you an ally of the demon?"

"I see everything," the woman informs them. "You want the girl, right?"
"The girl? You're talking about Cheryl!" He steps forward, interest piqued.
Apparently, both consider this more important than Oliver's van.

If people hadn't been throwing around the 'd' word, he'd have left in search of more people by now.
"There's a girl involved with a demon?"

"The Path of the Hermit, concealed by Flauros!"

Oliver glances at the man, to see if he has a better idea of what's going on.

"...you just stumbled into all this too, huh?"

"Did you see a little girl on the way? Seven years old, short, black hair."
