Chapter One [NC-17]

When Han woke in the morning, Luke was still fast asleep. Han couldn’t really say that he blamed him, after all, they hadn’t had a very good sleep and on top of that, the sun had just barely risen.

Luke looked radiant in the dim light; the blanket curled around his body like a cocoon, his messy hair falling into his eyes, and his hands up around his face.

Han got out of bed and dressed quietly, he didn’t want to wake Luke until it was absolutely necessary.  He had just put on his black vest when Luke stirred. His eyes tightened a little and then opened. He looked around the room and then at Han. He grinned and sunk deeper into the covers.

“Is it time to get up already?” He groaned.

Han sat on the edge of the bed and petted Luke’s hair, softly.  Luke grinned and closed his eyes.  But Han knew that they couldn’t wait to long, Obi-Wan Kenobi said that they needed to be on their way as soon as possible.

“Yup, time to go, that or your old man out there is going to pitch a fit.” Obi-Wan stood up and retrieved his belt from beside the door. “I’m going to go get the ship ready with Chewy, we’ll meet your there when you’re ready.” He winked at Luke and then walked out to the kitchen.

Chewy was there with Obi-Wan and the droids.

“Come on, Chewy, we have to go get the ship ready for departure.” He motioned at Chewy to get going.

“Captain Solo, a word?” Obi-Wan said.

“Yea, alright, but we don’t have all day.” Han leaned on the counter opposite the one Obi-Wan was standing in front of. “Chewy, you start I’ll catch up to you in a minute.”
Chewy acknowledged him and then left out the front door.

“Captain Solo, do you realize what you’ve gotten yourself into?” Obi-Wan asked.

“Uh, what do you mean?” Han decided to play the oblivious card.

“You know perfectly well what I mean.”

“Oh, you mean about Luke?  Well see he’s just a good looking kid….” Han started to say, knowing full well that it wasn’t true.

“Captain Solo, I’m a Jedi, I can see right through you.”  Obi-Wan’s gaze grew more stern.

“Ok, ok. So I like the kid…a lot. What’s the big deal?” Hsn shrugged his shoulders.

“Captain Solo, he has sworn an oath to the Jedi order, a contract not easily broken.  He is not allowed to love another in the way which you two seem to be gravitating towards.  I can not allow what happened to countless Jedi of the past, happen to him.”

“What would you do?”  Han asked now heavily on edge.

“What is necessary.  Find a new pilot if we must.”

“You…I…don’t…I don’t love….him.” Han stuttered, trying to find something to say that would satisfy his flood of emotions.

“Captain Han Solo, tell me the truth.” Obi-Wan said gravely.

Han looked at the floor and hesitated before whispering finally. “I love him. I love him and I don’t even know him.”

“You must end it. You must hurt him. Hurt him to save him.” Obi-Wan nodded and then walked out of the kitchen.

Han stood stunned for a moment, thinking about what he should do. Finally his legs started to obey his brain and he ran out the door to the ship.

He met briefly with Jabba, discussing the financial situation of Solo and the method of which to pay the debt owing to Jabba by the latter mentioned. Then, Han helped Chewy prepare the ship until Luke, Obi-Wan, and the droids came along about ½ hour later.

“What a piece of junk!” Luke said staring at the Millennium Falcon.

“She may not look like much but she’s got it where it counts. I made a lot of special modifications myself.” Han injected. “And if you would, we’re a little rushed.”

Everybody boarded the craft just as a fleet of storm troopers came rushing through the doors.  There they are! Blast ‘em!

Oh shit, thought Han. “Chewy! Let’s go, come one, come on!” He ran into the ship after Chewy, blasting a few storm troopers on the way. “Chewy get us off the ground!” He rushed to the cockpit and sat down beside Chewy.

Just as they had broken free of the planet’s gravitational pull and atmosphere, they spotted an imperial cruiser.

“Looks like an imperial cruiser, our passage is going to be harder than I thought.  Try to hold them off, angle the deflector shield while I make the calculations for light speed.” Han ordered Chewy.

Just then Luke walked in with Obi-Wan at his side. They bickered back and forth about the speed capabilities of Han’s ship and quite frankly Han wasn’t in the mood for it.

“Why don’t you just outrun them? I thought you said this thing was fast.” Luke complained over Han’s shoulder.

“In a few moments we’ll have the co-ordinates from the Nava computer.” Han said calmly, readjusting the deflector shield once again.

“Are you kidding? At the rate they’re gaining?!”

“Traveling through hyperspace ain’t like dustin’ crops, boy!” Han had had enough of the peanut gallery behind him. He shoed them away and finished making the calculations for hyperspace.

“Strap yourselves in!” He called to the back of the ship.

YEE HAW!

The stars went blurry for a moment and then started to whiz by them.  Of course, they were the one’s moving, not the stars, but the sensation felt contradictory.

Han sighed and slouched into his chair. “That was close Chewy, too close. I have a feeling this trip is going to be more than we bargained for.”  Chewy nodded as Han stood up to go find the others, to go find Luke.

As he walked down the corridors of the Millennium Falcon, his internal conflicts grew stronger.  A battle was raging within himself, questions that could not be answered by him were tormenting his soul. He did not want Luke to break his oath with the Jedi order but he also did not want him to leave.

He shoved his conflict aside and stepped into the recreational room. Chewy had already arrived and was playing chess with one of the droids, R2.  Luke was practicing his lightsabre with an old practice droid.  It would float around in random directions and fire at random intervals; it was supposed to heighten reaction time. Luke followed the droid with his lightsabre back and forth, concentrating on doing it right.  Han sat down and watched for a while, liking the way Luke’s movements occurred with such conviction. He was so determined, it was sexy.

“Remember, a Jedi can feel the force flowing through him.” Obi-Wan observed as Luke continued to follow the droid. “You mean it controls your actions?” Luke inquired. “Partially, but it also obeys your commands.” Obi-wan replied.

Han continued to watch silently from his spot as Obi-Wan suggested wearing a fighter helmet with a blast shield, to force Luke to use his feelings.  Your eyes can deceive you, don’t trust them, he said as Luke complained about the visual impairment.

To Han’s surprise Luke did better with the helmet than without, stopping three shots all in a row.  Luke put away his lightsabre and took off the helmet, smiling widely.  Han couldn’t help but reflect his emotions. He smiled as well, until Obi-Wan looked at him with intolerant eyes.  Han quickly changed his appearance from happy to unimpressed.

“I call it luck.” Han said passingly, getting up and heading out the door. “We’ll be in Alderaan in one hour.”

He walked down the hall towards his quarters.  His internal quarrel had grown stronger as he spent more time with Luke, knowing now that he couldn’t continue this romance as long as Obi-Wan was present. It’s not that he disliked Kenobi, he just didn’t want to be reminded of the truth.

He flopped down on his bed and sighed heavily.  He closed his eyes and remembered his conversation with Chewy just yesterday at the Mos Eisely canteen.

“Why the fuck does this stuff always have to happen to me?” Han said quietly, putting his hands behind his head, looking up at the ceiling.

His thoughts raged around him so loudly, he didn’t even hear the door slide open and then closed.

“I’m not supposed to feel this way, I’m Han, fucking, Solo.” He said a little louder.

“Han?” It was Luke from just inside the doorway.

Han jumped up off the bed, startled by the not unwelcome presence of his lover. “Luke! What are you doing here?”  He said trying to look more normal.

“Han, tell me what’s wrong.” Luke said, walking in front of Han and sliding is arms around his waist. He looked up at the starship Captain with stunning blue eyes made sad with the look of concern.

“Luke, I…” Han began to say, trying to find the words. Should he even tell Luke? Yes, he deserved to know.

“Luke, Obi-Wan doesn’t want us to be together.  He’s threatened to change ships once we reach Alderaan if I don’t abstain from seeing you.” He choked on his words as the young Jedi searched with questioning eyes.

“Yes, I know, I told you this last night.” Luke said, confused.

“No, you don’t understand. He can see right through me, he knows what I feel for you.” Han said running his fingers through Luke’s hair.

“And what do you feel for me?” Luke asked simply.

“I love you, Luke. I don’t even know you and I love every part of you.”  Han said looking down, afraid of how Luke might react.

“Oh, Han,” Luke hugged him tightly “I love you too.”

Han smiled and looked at him. “Really?” He replied happily.

“Yes.” Luke said, looking back at him.

“But Obi-Wan?”  Han inquired.

“As long as he thinks we aren’t together it will be alright.” Luke grinned. “You just keep treating me like an ass, I’ll keep complaining and everything will be just fine.”

Luke straightened himself up as Han leaned down, their lips met contentedly as their bodies molded together.

Han wrapped his arms around Luke and pulled him closer to him. Always closer.

To be continued.....
