FE13: Special Weapons
OK. So in the last post about DLC, I posted a list of weapons ganked from a Serenes Forest thread. They are special weapons named after or seemingly customized to former Lord characters. I thought at the time, given that Leaf and Roy were at the top of the list, that this was a possible clue toward future DLC content.
It's a little more complex than that. SF has partial list of all the FE13 weapons up now, and there are "tribute" weapons in each major category. The full lists that I'll link to contain potential gameplay spoilers, so I'll summarize here. Weapons will be ordered as they are on the list. I will not go into the details of what each weapon does unless I feel it relevant.
Swords: As seen above, we get swords named for Leaf, Roy, Eliwood, Eirika, Celice, and Alm. I love love love that Leaf's sword allows one to mug the victim. Nice gameplay echo of FE5 there. :)
Note that all these are Lord characters-- no homages to Ogmas or Navarres of any sort.
Lances: We get lances for Finn, Ephraim, and Sigurd. So, no, these aren't just Lord weapons. The only surprise there is a lack of Camus, who was in more FE games than all three of these guys put together. Also, somebody had the bright idea to make the Ephraim lance a "Bravelance," which seems a clue that this is all more fun and lulz and good memories and not entirely meant to evoke the actual weapons used by past heroes.
PS: Can I get a Valter's Crazyfuckerlance with 35% crit and a 50% chance of berserking the user? No? But I want one. :(
Axes: We have axes to honor Othin, Titania, and Hector. Now, you ask, who's Othin? Well, he's one of the axe guys from FE5. The good one. Often cited as the best axe-dude in the franchise. But in storyline terms, he's a nobody-- not even close to the same league as Titania or Finn, much less Lord-level. Interesting.
Bows: Wolt and Innes have bows named in their honor. The Innes one has 115 hit. No, really.
Tomes: We have tomes "belonging" to Micaiah, Katarina, and Cellica... plus one for a FE13 character I won't name here. I won't say I like Katarina, but I won't pretend she doesn't matter to the FE12 plot.
Data on staves isn't up yet.
Now, what can we gather from it? Well, we have most of the Lords honored... with two glaring omissions. No Ike sword or Ike axe. No Lyn sword or Lyn bow. But these lists are supposedly only 80% complete at present, and I really can't believe that Camus (dude's technically been in six games to date) doesn't get a tribute of some kind. As far as divining a pattern for DLC, you've got me... but I must admit I like the biases displayed here!
