Sneaky...

Here's something I didn't know about - if you're planning on selling any CDs, books, graphic novels, vinyl, magazines, film & TV memorabilia, etc on eBay, do it before 19th October, because after that time, you'll be forced to offer free postage and packing on any of these items you auction.

So unless you're a retailer who can get preferential postage and packing rates, eBay expect you to work the P&P into the minimum price on each item.

Completely coincidentally, this also means...

- Because your minimum is higher than 99p, eBay get to charge you a percentage on it.

- If your final fee is higher because it includes P&P, eBay can now charge you a larger percentage on it, whereas they previously didn't take a share of your P&P.

- Your final fee won't be higher though, because buyers will take 'free P&P' to mean just that, and will continue to spend the same on the item as they would have previously.

Were these rules to apply to the bulk of the items I have just auctioned, I reckon it would have dropped the net amount I received for each item after fees, etc, to less than 10p per item.

I really can't quite see why eBay are instituting these rules, as they make it more or less impossible to sell anything on there unless you have an eBay shop, without giving the bulk of the money earned from each sale to eBay and their PayPal stooges.

Actually, come to think of it I can see why they're instituting these rules - because they're money-grabbing scumfucks!
