Countdown: It's a Saturday, It's about 9:30, so without consulting the countdown clock I have on my PC at home, I'm guessing it's about 21 days, 1 hour, 30minutes...
Mea Culpa. I haven't posted in 3 days. I have no excuses.
I got a work email earlier this week saying that I had to be 100% available by phone on Thursday. This was so the company's project manager could call to let me know that my last day of work with the company will be August 31st and how sorry he is...blah blah blah.
Yup. Got laid off. I'm knee-jerking with the anxiety - I've been supporting myself for a loooong time; being without a job is not a good thing - but it's not as bad as it could be. Jeff still has his position and on August 30th (21 days, 1 hour, 15 minutes, plus another 20minutes to get through the ceremony) I'll be eligible to be included on his insurance. Having health insurance makes the whole jobless thing *much* less stressful.
I'll have a paycheck through the beginning of September which means that we can pay the caterer. :)
Additional caveats: there may be a severance package; they may be able to find me another job within the parent corp; the child corp is negotiating another project with Immigration and if they get it, they'll hire me back (October, I think). Whatever. Since I'm laid off due to a schedule cut back, I'm eligible for unemployment - another fine palative for the out-of-work anxiety attack.
I called HR a week or so ago to say the boat here is sinking, do you have something I can jump to. The recruiter said there's a parttime database job in Viena VA - can't afford to move there much less live there - that I *might* be able to telecommute.
I've got two irons in the fire for jobs here and in Richmond and my bestest friend Kathy is scouting for me at Disney.
And maybe it's time for me to get off my butt, set up the web site, and start selling bead work. Maybe it's time for me to read those programming books I've bought and take a database programming class.
Frankly, I tired of transition periods. I don't want this one right now. I want to pay for this wedding, spend way too much money on the honeymoon, pay off my last credit card, and not worry if we can afford to have a baby and buy a house. Getting laid off kind of affects that. Bah.
Any who, I'm in Gainville, Florida, enjoying my morning coke, watching MTV's 'Made' - actually pretty cool. A highschool girly-girl is learning to ride xtreme BMX. Tried to crash the OWBN cam game last night with my old character but only recognized two of the players so it mostly didn't work. Ok, so I was more interested in heading back to Annie's for snacks and gossip but no one needs to know that...
Wedding stuff: We've got 2 cases of Our Dog Blue and two cases of Black Dog. We'll probably get another case of ODB. We tested a couple of Asti Spumantis Thursday night - I can remember which one we chose. I'll have to remember to ask Jeff.
Coming soon: How AirTran rocks, wonder bras, and tales of kin.
Luv y'all!
