So the last week has been pretty good. Good and busy, actually.

Day job picked up a bit. Lots of people coming in and such.

Video game journalism is going well. There was tons of coverage to... cover during CES 2012 and the week after. Now that's entered a bit of a lull. I had to play Clock Zero for a playtest. (It was good.) I still have to play the new Angelique visual novel for a second playtest.

My aunt discovered her current boyfriend has heart problems. Her last one (who was married), as you may recall, died at her house during... activities. His wife and children then requested she not attend the funeral. This one just passed out.

Let's see... I can't remember when I last updated. So here's a brief summary of recent events.

Saw Sherlock Holmes 2 with Drew. The movie was awesome and I enjoyed it. Hung out with Jessi, Pat and Ceci. Hung out with Jessi, Pat and Caitlin. Did the work thing. Visited with my cousin and her stepdaughter. Bought Way of the Samurai 3 with a GameStop PowerUp Rewards coupon, hated it and exchanged it for a used copy of Super Mario 3D Land. Hung out with Jessi, Pat and Caitlin again.

I also finished a few books. I read the Welcome to Bordertown modern fantasy anthology. It was awesome and I highly recommend it. I also started reading this Best of Charles de Lint anthology and it's incredible. It really does have all of his best short stories and everyone who is even mildly interested in fantasy should read it. Both focused on magic, fantasy and fantastical characters in the modern world (though de Lint's anthology has some other stories). Bordertown isn't actually a quick read, as some of the stories in it are over 50 pages long. Still, they're really good. I especially enjoyed the short story Ellen Kushner and Terri Windling penned to act as the "introduction" and the story from Charles de Lint that closed the anthology was equally delightful.

A friend of mine who loves Christian and clean romance novels also lent me The Maid fo Fairbourne Hall with directions that I had to read it, so I did. It was a fairly quick and effortless read. Historical fiction, focusing on a woman who escapes marriage to her stepfather's nephew by posing as a maid and ends up (coincidentally, of course) working in the home of a man whose proposal she rejected a few years ago because she thought his brother was better looking.
