Intercon G: Gaiman, Girl Genius, G&S, Good eats, and Grossness

Last weekend I played in Intercon G a local, weekend long Live Action Role Playing convention.

Here's who I was in which games. Details and spoilers behind the cuts.

I started out Friday night as Fish the Tagger in World's End. This was a quiet game, full of many tales, some simple, some profound, all thought-provoking. My tale, in brief, is that I'm the best "tagger" in Manhattan, but lately some of my tags have started coming true. Very different from all of the games I've played in before, but I liked it.

Saturday morning I played Krosp, Emperor of Cats in Girl Genius: Agatha Heterodyne and The Perfect Construct. This was definitely my favorite game, mostly because I am a big fan of Girl Genius, but also because I like playing a cat. I went all out in costuming for this and will try to post some pictures when I get around to downloading them. In general the costumes and characters for the game were really amazing. I particular enjoyed interacting with Artie the Gerbil and Dingbot Prime. Overall, a wonderful creative story in the Girl Genius universe and a very high level of energy and creativity on the part of the players.

Saturday afternoon I played Jesus Rodriguez the Bartender in Fire on High. Briefly, this game was billed as Gilbert & Sullivan meet Star Trek and it lived up to the billing. There were some technical glitches in the starship simulation, but I expect they will be ironed out by the next run, and I thought the concept was sound, added to the game, and could potentially be applied to other games. The plots and characters were enormously fun and I think almost everyone was happy in the end. I know I created a lot of havoc but managed to be re-united with my one-true-love by the end so I was happy.

Saturday evening I didn't play in a game even though there were several I would like to have been able to play in including Orgia ad Domus Lomaximus and Contracts. Instead I went to a very good friend's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and good to see her happy so it was well worth it. And even if there hadn't been a wedding, there was a good friend's birthday party that evening, so games were just not meant to be. I did make it back in time to hang out in the Con Suite and spend some time at the dance party, though. I have to put in a plug for the Amazing Intercon Con Suite, which is one of the features that makes Intercon so successful. Having a ready supply of good, free food (TANSTAAFL not withstanding) makes it a lot easier to stay on an even keel, and helps make for a very pleasant environment for social interaction.

Sunday morning, hmm, "participated in" doesn't quite capture it. I would have to say I was an accessory to 10 Bad LARPs: the B-Sides. Highlights include: The Wicked Witch of the West ("I'm meeeeeelting!") in The Price is Fright, Noden in Divus Ex: Elder Gods, and a large ball of gloop in The Making of 10 Bad LARPs.

Wow! Less than twelve months to Intercon H.

intercon, weekend, larp
