Ok, I promised a 'New Moon' review and since I just came home from the movie, again, I think I'll do that now.
First I have to say that the german version (which I saw today) was not easy to listen to because I've met Annina Braunmiller und Johannes Raspe, who were the funniest people right after Mark and Craig at Ring*Con this year. They are the dubbing artists for Edward and Bella and I couldn't get Annina's face out of my head whenever Bella opened her mouth. ^^
I was really glad that I watched the movie in the OV first.
What can I say? Bella still didn't show the right emotions in my opinion. She is somehow quite lifeless in my eyes.
Edward got better and I like the scene in the forrest because you can almost touch his despair.
But I have to get things in order.
Birthday party: Loved, LOVE the scene in Carlisle's bureau with him and Bella. Book scene was better of course, but this was close to perfect! ♥ his calm, the way he talks to Bella, the way they burned the blood dripping gauzes. Geez, I had this moment (in the OV and today) that was notr very father-daughter-like between them because of the way Bella pushed her arm against his hip. What a sweet, sweet scene!
The Good-bye part: Like I said, Edward was almost perfect and Bella not so. I somehow wished they had put the original Sam-finds-Bella scene in the movie because how would she know who he is on the cliif later on? She never met him before he found her in the woods.
Jacob: Hmmm, Jake... Iam not very keen about Jacob. I completely can't stand Taylor Lautner. But I liked the part about his garage and the bikes and the way he made Bella feel better, both in the movie and the book. Him making fun about Mike at the cinema? Priceless!
And yes, I was really kind of drooling amazed about how much he changed. Which brings me to the wolves.
Werwolves: OMG the wolves!!! First time seeing the black wolf, Sam, was a bit dissapointing, but then the others stepped out of the trees and I was like: WOW! And make that a double WOWooot for Jake standing up on the cliff, his fur being blown here and there by the wind. Beautiful!
Sam and Emily's house was so cute and they got the part about the pack/family just right. ^^
Bella and Jake embracing in her room? ♥
Did somebody else wonder why Alice drove Carlisle's car? Pity she didn't talk about the car the way she had in the book. That part could have been longer, but they reached Volterra so soon.
Volterra: Beautiful, sunny and royal.
Which leads us to the Volturi. ♥
They remind me a lot of the decadent way Armand and Lestat used to live and love. The places, their clothes, their rules.
Lestat once said: Evil is a point of view. God kills indiscriminately and so shall we. For no creatures under God are as we are, none so like him as ourselves.
That could be the Volturi's Mantra, lol.
Aro was my personal Lestat come to think of it!
Jane! OMG, sweet little Dakota! Who knew that she could be that evil? Such a devil with the face of an angel. Perfect choice of actress!
That leaves Felix.
^^
Strong, beautiful, perfect!
The fight scene between him and Edward was the best of the entire movie!
Anyone notice how HUGE his hand looked on Edward's neck? *lol* Scary!
Daniel Cudmore a.k.a. Felix at Ring*Con this year!
The poll: Carlisle was ♥ again. He is the perfect father in my eyes and one of the most remarkable Vampires I've seen on TV or read about in books so far.
Rosalie's explanation is only understandable if you know her story.
That were the most important parts so far I could think of. The rest? Cheesy lines, even more now with the acting.
Alice's vision was of Bella as a Vampire? ... *runs away screaming* Rosamunde Pilcher came to mind.
Bella's visions of Edward? Brilliantly done.
Charlie? First time I rerally adored him as a Dad. He was sort of lame in the books. At least at some parts.
Emmett, my Emmett. Not what I expected. He is much more lovable in the books. He acts like a teenager on a sugar-high. *pulls face*
Jasper... *gasps* Can't wait to see him in 'Eclipse'. Hope they get him right there, too, or even better. But his hair? *takes scissors and cuts off the too long curls*
The contacts looked good on Esme and Carlisle, but they were too light for the rest of the family. Jane, Aro and the rest of the Volturi were really scary with the red eyes. It looked so real!
Last, but not least:
Jacob compared to Edward half naked? Well, go Jacob!
Think about the muscles, the perfect shape of his body up in Bella's room when they embraced. He has one of the bodies I completely love! Slim waist, broad shoulders, muscles where-ever you look. OMG, his BACK! *drools again*
*gulps*
Did I say that out loud?
TEAM CARLISLE!
What else?
REAL VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE!!!
the End
