so for those of you who are struggling through finals like myself....here is a funny anecdote
so i have this horrible class called physics 131 (mathematical methods for physics) no one ever knows whats going on cuz our teacher is horrible. Anyway there is this problem where you solve for the vibration of a drum...its great...really. anyway, one of the solutions to the differential equations you get while trying to solve this thing is called the bessel function. its horrible, no one understand it, its ugly, and we hate it. Anyway, when studying for the midterm we thought the test was going to be ridiculously hard so we came up with some little sketches to draw when we didnt know what was going on. Examples: a magic wand if we dont know how to show how to get from point a to point b but we know what point a and point b is...the more steps you skip, the more sparks come off the wand. If you have no clue whats going on, draw a battle scene of epic proportions from the roman era. If he asks something about the bessel function chances are we will know nothing about it. in this case, draw the bessel monster. ANYWAY the midterm turned out to be easy, no bessel anything. THE FINAL ON THE OTHER HAND something completely different quite a bit harder. anyway tehre was this problem about "unitary matricies" and how they model three masses on three springs vibrating back and forth. basically i had no clue what was going on, so i drew a lovely bessel monster on my test. i also wrote "this is a bessel monster because i haven't decided what a unitary matrix monster looks like yet" SO here is a recreation of my drawing, and the real bessel functions. (keep in mind i had about 2.5 hours left once i got to the last problem, my monster was much better than this mere recreation
