A series of four viewpoints - all told in second-person. Starts with Dally's view, in which he broods, realizing his own feelings for Johnny, and ends up kissing him before running away from a shocked Johnny. Second chapter is through Darry's eyes as he wonders, a week later, why Dally hasn't been around Johnny. Until he finds Dally outside the house and lets him know Johnny is there. Chapter three is back to Dally's POV as he goes into the house and sees Johnny, who is sleeping over on the couch. And final chapter is Soda's POV of the chapter-three events.
Takes place pre-novel, but not by much. It's a quiet, dark, but gentle read, and at times rather sweet, and captures the different types of love that exist among the gang.
