Fic: Alex Krycek is Dead - Long Live Alex Krycek, by flutesong (X-Files)
This one's an Alex Krycek gen fic. And it's not a death fic, in spite of the name. In it, Alex wakes on a hillside sometime after being shot in the garage. He experiences it as similar to the time he woke to find himself freed from the silo. And he sets out to find out what's been happening to the others.
After spending time in New York and DC, Alex heads out west to meet up with Gibson Praise. It's there that he learns, through mental images, what happened after his "death" - including his own appearance in ghostly form at Mulder's trial, an appearance that is attributable to Gibson's abilities. And while Alex doesn't end up locating Mulder, he feels that he's finally received the gift of Mulder's belief. For Alex, that's enough.
