Fic: Chemistry, by Louise Wu (X-Files)
Told in three parts, or rather as three books:
Book One - Desired
Book Two - Divided
Book Three - Defended
So. We go from Krycek watching Mulder's apartment, convincing the pizza boy to let him deliver the pizza as a way to get to Mulder, seducing Mulder, and Mulder doing the hetero freakout thing.
But then Mulder's got a case - kidnapped scientist, Dr. Chao - so his freakout takes a backseat until Krycek shows up at a deserted office building where the scientist is held.
And so begins a relationship between Mulder and Krycek - lots of sex, a bit of romance, Valrhona chocolate, cases, hotel rooms, Scully finding out, Alex admitting he killed Bill Mulder, Mulder beating up Alex and confessing it to Scully, police and medical attendants treating Mulder like an abusive boyfriend, and Mulder trying to take care of Alex to make up for it.
And on to Book Two... Mulder gets shot. Alex gets revenge. Alex goes to prison, where a large (and very creepy) guy is quietly keeping an eye on him. One-armed Alex is at risk in prison and is sexually assaulted and framed for crimes, but he manages to survive - though he does mess with heroin. Mulder visits him regularly, a nice attorney tries to help out by giving Alex a job after he gets out of jail, and of course there's more sex.
Then comes Book Three. Meet the family, meet the friends.
Turns out Alex once had a lover named Trevor who was beaten to death in an act of homophobia. Alex was briefly a suspect in that crime, but was at work at a restaurant at the time and is safely alibi'ed.
Alex also has a sister Talia, and an aunt Betta, and a mother who's not long for the world. Mulder's got a mother who's not exactly warm and loving, but he wants Alex to meet her anyway. You can imagine how well that goes.
Then it's a barbecue with Scully and the Gunmen, and a few special guests. Byers got a brother, Teddy, who's got a boyfriend, Jason. There's an arm-wrestling competition. Alex asks Mulder to cut his steak for him. Talia flirts with Skinner but dates Scully. And Alex has a birthday.
Other stuff:
Mulder talks soccer to Skinner and Scully when he realizes their car's been tapped.
Creepy guy in prison and the yard murders - especially the disembodied eyeballs lined up and looking in the library window.
Alex saves Scully from Donnie Pfaster, and Scully saves Alex from another spin in prison.
Mini-excerpt from Krycek's POV as he thinks about Mulder's mother and her coldness:
I wanted to kill the bitch, but somehow I didn't think our relationship would survive my killing both his parents.
