26: what are the shoes you've had for forever and wear with every single outfit?
Uhhhhh... I haven't? Like, I don't buy expensive shoes so I go through the ones I wear often about once a year. I spend on my sneakers, though, and those are coming up on two-ish years old, I think. Maybe three? Jeez, I might need to buy a new pair of those.
Anyway. Uh. I always have slip-ons that I wear quite often but those definitely don't have a great shelf life about them. Who keeps shoes for that long that you can still wear with every outfit?
I finished season 3 of How to Get Away with Murder tonight. I liked it overall and thought it was improved over season 2. However, that's not to say it wasn't without some issues.
I found that between episodes 12-15 there was some stretching done to the storyline that could have been tightened up and fixed by episode 13. After the reveal that the burner phone was in that lawyer dude's desk and he caught Connor on it everything with that was a bit laborious.
The whole show is becoming a bit like that but I think that it IS only 15 episodes and they air it in a couple chunks at a time it helps the viewer keep up.
I'm getting annoyed with Annalise and Bonnie both, and with their fucked up relationship. I have a hard time identifying with characters being "indebted" to another one. I have loyalty to people but I will also absolutely deal with toxic people and cut them out of my life in a heartbeat. I've done it before and I'd do it again. Seeing Bonnie and Frank both be so ridiculously addicted to her is over the top by this point. I get why they feel it, I suppose, but I don't understand it. But come on. In scenes within minutes of each other Annalise will be nice to Bonnie and give her what she wants and then turn around and throw it back in her face.
The more I think about it and work it out the more I get it but I still don't like it. Gives me a funny look on my face the deeper I go.
I like Michaela the best, I think, even though she still had her moments this season. Being with Asher has changed her, though, and delving into her family history helped win me over. And Asher was an adorable, awkward, clueless doofus. Doesn't excuse his past behaviour but being cut off from his family/money, or however that happened, was the best thing to happen to him.
While I like how Connor has evolved into a character I like now, and not just a sex maniac with no regard for anyone else, I have to say that I don't think Oliver is good enough for him any longer. I don't know if it was the way the actor played him or if the writers were purposely trying to make him seem like he was only settling with Connor because he was "safe". All season has been a stupid back and forth with them and while I don't actively want to see a different relationship I didn't like how I've yet to see Oliver choose Connor because he truly wants to. I guess the end when Connor was being held by that dude was supposed to be it but I just saw that as fear.
Lauren is pretty adrift right now and obviously at her breaking point, mentally and emotionally. It seems like next season will focus on her/her family but I don't know how that's going to go. Will she go so far as to kill her father once she inevitably learns of his involvement in Wes' death?
Depending on how the writers play it that could be a promising direction to go in because by this point anything with Annalise at the center of it feels tired and bored. How much more can she take? And I guess she'll have to find a new career again or something? Is she still teaching? Only lawyering? Who the hell knows? She should probably retire, head to Arizona and take up succulent gardening (is that a thing? She could pioneer it!).
The season started out strong, got a bit lost in its own details, and ended pretty quietly. I didn't feel as much of a cliffhanger as I have in the past. But because there's so much time between seasons and I binge the eps by the time it starts airing again I'll likely only remember what I liked about this season and not what I liked less-so.
HMV Canada went into receivership about six weeks ago and the stores have all been shutting down like dominoes. Our store's last business day was today. It was the first job I had when I moved out here to Alberta and I'm still friends with everyone who works there so this was a bit of a hit. Sunrise Records is taking over the spot and will likely be opening within the next couple of months so that's good but I think everyone staying on with the new company is going into it with their eyes very wide-open and the understanding that there's a (good?) chance that it may not make a strong go, either. It's the unfortunate reality of today's world where we all Spotify/Netflix/download everything. And I'm as much to blame!
All that being said I stopped by the store after work to see everyone and to check out the deals. From what I understand until today everything was still only a % off, up to 70-ish, I think. But since it's the last day they had all the 2/$25 stuff on 4/$4, and the 2/$20 deals on at 8/$4. I loaded up my arms and just started picking a bunch of movies that I would never have considered before. Most of the movies were more b-grade horror but I did manage to score some good picks. Like 10 blurays, including of The Jinx, Thelma & Louise, The Usual Suspects, and Some Like It Hot. I got a couple full season boxed sets and in order to fill my quota for deals I also grabbed some movies I thought friends and my mom would like.
All in all I ended up with 41 (I THINK?) movies/shows and I paid $37 and change. WHAAAAAAAT?!
I also went out at lunch and bought three pies and ice cream from the nearby grocer and brought it back for the staff at the factory. It seemed to be a hit and I got some good pictures out of it for social media, while name dropping the store. Win win!
