AO3 question, kinda

Sep 11, 2016 12:14

Every day I get a "kudos" report from AO3, like many of you do as well. Every now and then I'll see a sudden spike in kudos on a fic that's older and doesn't otherwise have a reason for so I like to know where it's been rec'd or why it's suddenly getting hits.

I usually go searching for the source of the spike by googling the fic name, marishna and tumblr because it seems like the majority of recs come from tumblr now. On occasion, however, I can't seem to find anything current beyond some random links that lead to a tag collection and often enough they don't even exist any longer (another thing about tumblr I don't understand).

Occasionally, and today, I've tried putting quotes around the fic name and adding the current year to better target my search but still nothing comes up. I even got rid of the tumblr search term because maybe someone linked the fic elsewhere but that didn't do any good, either.

Anyone else have any other tricks or tips I can try? I like knowing who liked something I've done enough to rec it and to hopefully find out why.
