I went in with SUPER low expectations. I was going to watch it and prepare to laugh my ass off throughout it but as I got closer to the premiere weekend I read a lot of stuff about Vin Diesel and how big a geek he is in his own right, how he did most of the stunts himself and a lot of it wasn't computer animated, how he genuinely loves this kind of story. He wasn't just in it for a paycheque and to phone in a performance.
That endeared me to the movie before I watched it and it helped me accept it for what it is. It's got a GREAT cast and while the story isn't the best, that it's a passion project, of sorts, for Vin really makes me love it most of all. It's a fun movie and was REALLY great to see on the big screen.
I got my hopes up today when a co-worker said he confirmed talks for a sequel on his twitter but that turned out to be from last June, before the movie came out. :( The studio was in talks for it to be a potential franchise but it didn't make enough bank so I don't think it's going to happen. BUT it would make an awesome TV show!
