Meme day 24

Apr 14, 2016 23:29

Just SEVEN things that cross my mind a lot? Also, I don't know what context this is supposed to be in so these are things that will perhaps interrupt me in the middle of doing something else, I guess.

01) Arg, I have to do that! (applies to many different situations)
02) random song lyrics. Some days I wake up with one line from a random song repeating ad nauseum in my brain.
03) Why am I so ITCHY?!
04) I'll just rest my eyes for a second in this chair...
05) I have to peeeeeeee
06) I don't want to be here
07) Some kind of expression of pain

----

I went to a social media conference today put on by our Chamber of Commerce at the local college. I've known about it since before C left and another person from work went, as well, who handles the main FB and twitter for the company. It started at 8:30 and what time did I wake up? 9am. :\

I have a BRUTAL time waking up and lately it's been a bit worse than usual. My sleep time hasn't changed although I know that going to bed as late as I do is ridiculous but whatever, I'm not going to change that right now. What I call my "sleep self" is also very savvy and can trick my mom into believing I'm awake when I'm VERY, VERY not. I don't even realize I'm doing it. I can vaguely remember afterwards that I was talking but in the moment I either truly believe I AM or I'm outright lying, I don't even know what.

I can't even set my own alarms to wake up in the morning because I sleep through them or turn them off. I have one alarm that works very well to wake me but I've learned that if I turn the sound off on my phone it'll just buzz continually and I can EASILY sleep through that.

After some swearing I rushed through getting ready and was at the college in about 15 minutes after waking. I don't LIKE to have to move that fast in the morning but I can DO it. So I didn't miss much and the conference turned out to be pretty informative. I got to sit with a few people from the college, a psychologist (I think the one I saw back in 2010 when I was first having depression issues, actually) and someone from the chamber so it was a varied group and one of the college people turned out to be a friend's sister!

I asked some questions throughout the day and was given positive feedback on them from the other attendees and I was overall happy that the guy leading the conference was turning away from Facebook because I hate it so much, from a personal and moral standpoint. From an adverting standpoint I should LOVE it because it's SO focused and able to be targeted when you need to advertise on it but godDAMN it's so invasive in our lives and I hate that. I don't like that they're so good at knowing how to target you.

I know twitter uses a lot of the same methods and algorithms but I guess I'm not as up in arms about it because they're rather low-key about advertising on it so far, I don't know. I also don't have a lot of people from my real life on my twitters that I care about there being crossover between what I like and hiding it from people I know. It might have to do with who I was when I had a FB versus now, I don't know how to pin it down.

The day went by very quickly and felt like a great mini-vacation from being at work.

Reminders: I'm asking for prompts of all kinds for Merry Month of Masturbation here!
