We didn't end up going to the movies today, I don't think either of us were really up to it. Instead, I walked to the store and got some things for the week. I bought a fondue kit from Safeway a few weeks back when it was on clearance (possibly a sign?) and I wanted an easy way to try it (we're not exactly a fondue family) so I picked one up. Bought some stirfry beef and broccoli and cauliflower, along with a couple buns and figured everything can be dipped in cheese, right?

It was... passable, I suppose. In terms of ease to prepare the stuff it was fairly low-key. I was a bit leery of putting the container in the microwave because it seemed like metal (and on the bottom it had a logo to recycle metal so it WAS) but it was microwavable, somehow. Took seven minutes of nuking with some stirring in the middle, then 20 minutes in the oven at a low heat. It came with a plastic stand and a tea light to keep it warm once removed from the oven.

It was pretty bland, though, and it smelled a bit funky (not off-putting but considering the most exotic cheese I've ever eaten is, like, gouda, any cheese that's slightly off is extreme to me) but it was okay on the broccoli and cauliflower. Not so much to dip bread in but maybe it was because I just grabbed a crusty bun out of the bakery bin. Is there a specific fondue bread? It was fine with the steak, although I think I would have been happier with some bbq sauce or cooking it in onion soup mix like I have been.

I guess I can check 'adventures in fondue' off my imaginary list.

I watched Now You See Me and Adventureland Tomorrowland (ericadawn16 clued me in that I got the name wrong. This land, that land--eh, it's the shittiness of the movie that matters in the end) today, though. NYSM wasn't what I was expecting (but I don't know WHAT I was expecting, honestly). It felt like it was missing bits of plot in places and not any plot holes or things that would be explained in the sequel. It was okay but I think I was hoping for more. I'll watch the second one, though, if only for DanRad.

TL was better than I thought it was going to be, considering how shitty it looked in the trailers and the bashing it got in the reviews and box office. I genuinely liked it up until when they actually GOT to TL and things got all preachy about the environment. It just went all finger-waggy about how we're shitting on the planet and we all need to come together and make it better. Clooney's character could have been played by literally anyone. Britt Robertson was good, but she was a little too scream-y for my liking.

I've already somewhat disrobed for the day so I'm not taking a picture but I was almost 100% head-to-toe Old Navy. Comfy t-shirt, comfy capri pants, zip-up hoodie with Old Navy on it (that one of the circulation guys always mistakes for "old lady", which doesn't feel that off the mark most days), mismatched socks and my sneakers that I love so much (seriously, Saucony's are the BEST). Not very exciting but it's my ultimate in Sunday finery.
