Media overload

I finished Jessica Jones today. WHY ISN'T THERE MORE RIGHT NOOOOOOW?

Awesome, awesome show. Better than Daredevil. I think Jessica is a better character, I liked the plot better... just so good. The villains are about on par, though. I mean, Vincent Donofrio against David Tennant? I can't even. Although I will say that there were so many lines or the way they were delivered that reminded me of how he played the Tenth doctor.

I saw The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 last night. Hmmm. I liked it. I wish now that I'd re-read the last book before going into the movie so I could better remember the characters and how things went.

When the group was running through the underground tunnels and people started dying left, right and centre, I had no idea who was who. I couldn't remember the soldiers from the camera crew.

I didn't remember that Finnick died. Or how. Yikes. That was pretty brutal.

Here's the bit that I was really confused by: I didn't think that Gale stayed behind at one of the districts at the end? Like, I thought he went back to 12 with Peeta and Katniss and Haymitch. I also didn't think she "bye, Felicia"'d him and sent him out of her life. I found the end of the book so very confusing and not at all clear since it was written from Katniss' point of view and she was so fucked up after Prim died.

And, finally, did Katniss and Peeta really end up together like that scene at the very end? I REALLY didn't remember that and figured they just had a fucked up brother/sister relationship by the end of it and I'm not even exaggerating my perception. I NEVER thought that they really ended up together and beyond that never felt they had any sexual connection in the least in the books OR movies.

I don't really ship anyone in the series (either version) but I always thought Katniss was better with Gale.

I LIKED the movie despite the darkness and because of it. The hopelessness of it and how broken Katniss was after everything was finally over was just very realistic and I think it would have been better to end it without her having kids. I know that's supposed to be a note of hope to end on, that those children will never have to go through what they did and be faced with such fear and oppression but good LORD was it out of place. My friends and I walked out of the theatre joking that clearly Katniss and Peeta only had sex those two times.

I felt bad during the scene with the cat at the end when Katniss finally broke down about Prim because people in my theatre were laughing at the cat, which WAS funny, but I knew exactly what Katniss was feeling and everything felt very off during that one very short scene. I know what the filmmakers were aiming for but the cat upstaged JLaw and she had some ugly crying going on to top it off.

Overall it was an underwhelming ending to the series and I was hoping it would do better than the book because I've found this series to be as good or better than the books. But I appreciate the darkness of it.

On top of finishing off Jessica Jones I'm also in the middle of marathoning all of the aired eps of How to Get Away with Murder right now since the fall finale has aired. I'm on the second to last episode right now and I'm pretty intrigued, although a lot of the names of characters have gone over my head or slipped my mind and caused some confusion about what's going on.

Basically there's a lot of sex and a lot of murder and I'm whipping through it quick enough that it doesn't matter if I'm missing shit.

tv shows: daredevil, tv shows: jessica jones, movies: the hunger games, tv shows: how to get away with murder
