TV talk

Yeah, I think I'm going to let Blindspot drop. It's kind of exhausting to watch knowing where the writers/showrunner is going to take the show (generally, from watching other shows in the same vein with mystery and intrigue and whatnot) and fearing no real payoff for episodes and episodes.

Not to mention I don't particularly like any of the characters and I don't feel that anyone really meshes on that show. The lead dude has a terrible accent, "Jane" waffles between being a badass and constantly on the edge of tears and the blonde lab person (who played the kid in Growing Pains, fyi, so I kind of want to see her succeed) is WAY too smiley for her job. It's like she should be hanging out with Garcia from Criminal Minds or something.

Tom & Lorenzo posted this really awesome blog about the state of TV right now (how there's SO MUCH good stuff) in relation to Quantico. I guess the biggest thing I took from this is that there IS a lot of great TV but it's now becoming very derivative of each other and Quantico is basically an FBI-set How to Get Away with Murder. Which is fine but we already have HTGAWM and JFC it's exhausting trying to keep track of these shows.

It's not like I want more sitcoms or anything, because I likely wouldn't watch any of them anyway, but there HAS to be something different out there, right?

Quantico was fine, perfectly serviceable for a start. But there was a lot to take in and already it's literally BANG out of the gate. Can we get a chance to settle in? I'll keep it on my DVR for right now but if I end up watching I'll probably marathon the season in chunks like I do with a lot of other shows.

Tomorrow I'll watch Scorpion and Minority Report to catch up on those but neither are things I'm "OMG HAVE TO WATCH" over. I'm more excited about Drunk History, LOL. And I'm still not sure I want to give Scream Queens another chance. I might, just so I can say that I gave it three episodes and Ryan Murphy is smoking so much crack, along with the network execs.

Does this TV season already feel very tired to anyone else? Not just in ideas or shows but in the overall feeling of the viewers? Which goes back to the T&Lo article: there's already SO MUCH great TV that any more is just over saturation and, honestly, how much can we enjoy when half of it feels like a chore?

tv shows: blindspot, tv shows: scorpion, tv shows: quantico, tv shows: drunk history, tv shows: minority report, tv shows: how to get away with murder
