Blah, I had a bunch of other stuff written here last week but then it took 1000 acres of time for the caps to upload (seriously, the caps themselves didn't finish until Monday morning and the zips not until Monday night!) and then I got lazy over the week and here we are.
I just got back from seeing "In Time".
I went in thinking it was going to be a shitty movie and I think that helped me out. It definitely wasn't the best movie I've ever seen but it wasn't the worst either! The script got kind of muddled around the middle and it was a touch too long but it worked.
It was a Bonnie & Clyde/Robin Hood crossover in the future with time instead of money. Amanda Seyfried is GORGEOUS in it and I loved the look of the whole movie. It was futuristic but not with like, silver foil for clothing and flying cars (although the cars were an updated... something like a classic impala but not but I don't know what they're called and I liked them--try that sentence on for size).
I really couldn't have cared less that it was Justin Timberlake in the lead role, though. I didn't even think of him as JT in the role, but then again I didn't really think of the character much at all, beyond being the lead and being the driving force behind the events.
It's also TOTALLY PG-13. There was one or two instances of the word "shit" and only one "fucking" and NO sex scenes, not even a cut-away. I felt I was gyped that way. There are a couple brief shirtless JT moments and Amanda is in her bra at least once. Did I mention how gorgeous in this movie?
Matt Bomer, Cillian Murphy and Vincent Kartheiser all have roles and do all right. Cillian was especially hot in his long leather jacket and big 'ole boots, running after JT and Amanda over and over. Running would be the other main star cause holy shit, that's all anyone does in this movie.
Annddd... that's about it.
My my my.
I say this a lot but I really don't know what to think about all this.
I'm not particularly excited by anyone's powers (don't even fully get what Simon's is, if that flash at the start when he was training to be Super!Hoodie happened is what it is) but I'm sure the show will twist that opinion of mine.
I really don't know what to think about Rudy. I want to like him, especially when he's sad!Rudy because sad!Rudy is actually nice and the conscience part of him. The abrasive part of him, however, is very much written like Nathan. I'd hoped the writers would have given him different character traits but I guess we'll see where this leads.
I'm interested to see where, if anywhere, the Kelly/Seth thing might lead. Poor Kelly always gets shit on when it comes to romantic storylines.
It worries me that Simon is seeing himself die and that he's training to basically march himself off to die. I'm sure the writers will find a way around that since they know it's coming but if Iwan wants to leave the show it will worry me. Obviously I have no idea if he does want to leave but I DON'T want him to.
This show always blows me away and since the season is so short that even if it doesn't I won't feel like I've wasted any time watching it. I can't wait to see where it goes and what's coming, but I'm reserving judgement on the usefulness of Rudy right now.
As for 302, I think this is one of the first times I've really actively enjoyed Curtis' character. I don't dislike him but since he pretty much gets the shaft when it comes to functional storylines I don't really have an opinion about him.
I liked Kelly's small parts in this episode, too. I really liked her getting up in girl!Curtis' and Simon's grill for possibly cheating on Alisha.
I enjoyed the interaction between Simon and Curtis, as well. I don't think they've had any scenes together before? At least to this extent. Not that Curtis has much choice on who he's going to talk to now. He MIGHT have gone to Nathan before but he can't talk to Alisha (not after learning the truth from her in this ep) and I don't think he and Kelly have had any one-on-one interaction, either.
Rudy hasn't won me over yet. He's so much like Nathan but without Nathan's... charm? Nathan had a way of being SO OUT THERE that while you were rolling your eyes or dropping your mouth because he's so fucked up, you want to laugh your ass off. Rudy's a poor imitation of Nathan so far but more spazzy.
