Three books read recently.

From the Mixed-Up files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg (Reread: like everyone else, I first read this as a child.)
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
The Art of Detection by Laurie R. King

Oddly enough, the latter two are Sherlock Holmes-related, although in Haddon's book it's only a passing allusion and the title. The Art of Detection is about a police inspector in modern San Fransico investigating the death of a Holmes enthusiast; the victim may have died due to his discovery of a manuscript that may have been written by Doyle himself. I've always liked Laurie R. King but this book is particularly interesting because it's the first novel I've ever read where a particular fandom (in this case, Sherlockians, often considered the first fandom ever) is a major part of the story. King is hardly above this, having written half a dozen novels about Holmes herself.

The fictional case has a lot in common with the death of a real Holmes scholar, but not enough for the news articles to be considered spoilers.
