Fontaine's is a bar. Some of its signs still say "Fontaine's Oyster House," but I don't think they have served mollusks there in a long time. I wonder who Fontaine was.

I'm not sure if the flag is at half-mast due to Katrina or because this was taken on the anniversary of 9/11, or both.
I love glass blocks like this. They seem to have been used a lot in the 30s-50s and then they disappeared forever.
